Actually many things we would classify as vegetables or fruit (such as grapes or figs) are evolutionarily adapted to encourage consumption by herbivores. In essence, evolution "designed them" to be consumed.

@myspicyclips6402 Good point about the bananas. If there is a push to not use evolution as an active voice, this is the first I've heard of it. Such a push makes sense though, as evolution is essentially a hill-climbing algorithm. It lacks any sort of "will" or planning capability.
