I’ll explain everything here on why people keep asking why SFA scheduled Warner. We originally had Lamar University scheduled for this game but Lamar decided to jump ship from the WAC and go back to playing in the Southland Conference. Warner was the only team that SFA could schedule in the short amount of time. I think Lamar decided to jump ship a month before the season maybe even sooner. It was either play Warner or only play a 10 game schedule and we already had two off weeks. The conference realignment stuff has ruined so many athletic departments all around the nation. Especially smaller schools.
@brandynhenry71072 жыл бұрын
How is this even doable? I know fcs conferences are a hodgepodge at times but how the hell can a conference accommodate a team joining in July/August and not wrecking it's schedule?
@davidmills70462 жыл бұрын
If all that is true then SFA's coaches are POS's. If there was nothing more to do than to play this game you put in your worst players after you're up 40. For them to let it keep going to 98 means they're cunts.
@xB2KxRewindZ2 жыл бұрын
@@brandynhenry7107 You’d figure they’d have it somewhat setup like the Power5 and have every school sign something stating “X is a member of XYZ conference for the next 15 years, if they want out, they pay x amount and give notice at the end of the most current season.” But I guess the smaller schools get to jump ship like their calling out of work lol 🤷🏻♂️
@Moose63402 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Conference changes can screw everything up. I know that my school (James Madison) going from FCS to FBS and moving from the CAA to the Sun Belt cost us one game and we had to schedule Middle Tennessee as an opener on a few months' notice, but not a few weeks like this. Still, while it sucks to get blown out 98-0, Warner probably got some money from SFA for it. Not like the $1.5 million that A&M gave App State or the $1+ million that Notre Dame gave Marshall, but still.

@clapdrix722 жыл бұрын
TLDR: when the scenario is rare, take those probabilities with a gain of salt. It's an idiosyncracy of the models they use to predict the outcomes. Rarely do (most) machine learning models predict exactly zero even when common sense says it should be essentially zero - especially for cases whose likeness was rare or missing entirely during training, like a 68-0 uber mismatch.
@saberdon23412 жыл бұрын
There was still time left on the clock, so there was still a chance that they make a comeback. Thus models can not predict a straight 0% chance of winning regardless of how insurmountable a lead is or is perceived to be

@@saberdon2341 That's not necessarily true. The actual probability, if it could be known, will never be never when there's time on the clock but models are imperfect because the data that's used to train them is imperfect.

This game reminds me a little bit of a high school game my dad played in back in the 1970s. My dad was a starting linebacker on a team that won about half its games that season. A nearby orphanage school had just scraped together a football team, and played against my dad's school. Due to injuries on his team, my dad started at nose tackle instead of linebacker, but even at the unfamiliar position, he had 11 tackles for loss despite spending the entire second half on the bench! His team was ahead 66-0 by the end of the 3rd quarter, and had to stop running offensive plays altogether and punt the ball back to the other team to keep from scoring even more, even with the full-time bench warmers in the game. According to my dad, the other team's QB was good-natured about it, though. He jokingly invited my dad into his team's huddle, "since you're in our backfield as much as I am!"

Because at the 3rd quarter of the game it is already garbage time and the worst part about that time is that there are no merits for players despite getting reps. Just stats padding. It is hard to have fun collectively when players don't shows up and that goes for anything. This game is obviously nowhere comparable to for example 2022 4-0 UCLA vs 0-4 Colorado. Notice after the 2nd score, the TV clock remained running? Perhaps there was an issue with the TV clock not stopping and having to be reset, to re-sync with the game clock.

Not sure it was really necessary to still be passing up 50,60,70+ points. All you're proving at that point is how ridiculous it was for this game to have even been scheduled in the first place.

How did they go from 7-0 with 8 minutes to go to 14-0 with over 9 minutes to go?
@d0nKsTaH2 жыл бұрын
I'll explain. The Broadcast timer was wrong. They kept the timer going down even after the scores (watch both)... Clock stops the moment a player scores. Supposed to... So they "fixed" the missing time for the 3rd score....

I thought they were supposed to run the clock after 42 points have been scored? That’s not showing sportsmanship by the HC and if there’s no running clock or mercy rule, you can also kick FGs 🤔

Clock must be messed up bc 2nd score happened at 8 min in 1st quarter, 3rd score happened at 945 I 1st quarter. I've watched a lot of football and it's not soccer. Clock doesn't count up.

What is truly amazing this isn't even in the Top 100 times it has happened through out College Football. Georgia Tech shuts out Cumberland, 222-0, in most lopsided college football game. On October 7, 1916. That would be a game to watch, if they had cameras that could record a game that is.

I remember one time my high school football pretty much did the same thing: they won the game 55 to 0. It was like the other team wasn't even trying. And that was even with a delay due to a thunderstorm in the 3rd quarter.
