I’ll explain everything here on why people keep asking why SFA scheduled Warner. We originally had Lamar University scheduled for this game but Lamar decided to jump ship from the WAC and go back to playing in the Southland Conference. Warner was the only team that SFA could schedule in the short amount of time. I think Lamar decided to jump ship a month before the season maybe even sooner. It was either play Warner or only play a 10 game schedule and we already had two off weeks. The conference realignment stuff has ruined so many athletic departments all around the nation. Especially smaller schools.
@brandynhenry7107

How is this even doable? I know fcs conferences are a hodgepodge at times but how the hell can a conference accommodate a team joining in July/August and not wrecking it's schedule?
@davidmills7046
@davidmills7046 2 жыл бұрын
If all that is true then SFA's coaches are POS's. If there was nothing more to do than to play this game you put in your worst players after you're up 40. For them to let it keep going to 98 means they're cunts.
@xB2KxRewindZ
@xB2KxRewindZ 2 жыл бұрын
@@brandynhenry7107 You’d figure they’d have it somewhat setup like the Power5 and have every school sign something stating “X is a member of XYZ conference for the next 15 years, if they want out, they pay x amount and give notice at the end of the most current season.” But I guess the smaller schools get to jump ship like their calling out of work lol 🤷🏻‍♂️
@Moose6340
@Moose6340 2 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. Conference changes can screw everything up. I know that my school (James Madison) going from FCS to FBS and moving from the CAA to the Sun Belt cost us one game and we had to schedule Middle Tennessee as an opener on a few months' notice, but not a few weeks like this. Still, while it sucks to get blown out 98-0, Warner probably got some money from SFA for it. Not like the $1.5 million that A&M gave App State or the $1+ million that Notre Dame gave Marshall, but still.

yeah was some homefield officiating going on as well, not that it was needed, on that punt return SFA player is sitting on and holding a Warner player on the ground, these officials saw the game was out of hand and just stopped calling penalties, it wasn't the only flagrant penalty I saw that wasn't called either. Many, many blocks in the back by SFA, so not only were they poor sports running up the score but they were also cheating and getting away with it with their home bred officials watching their backs.

My high school did something similar to this to an awful opponent. Final was 91-6. We were up 70-0 at the half. Somehow, down 68-0 with 5mins left in the 3rd, Warner still had a 0.2% chance to win per ESPN.
@clapdrix72
@clapdrix72 2 жыл бұрын
TLDR: when the scenario is rare, take those probabilities with a gain of salt. It's an idiosyncracy of the models they use to predict the outcomes. Rarely do (most) machine learning models predict exactly zero even when common sense says it should be essentially zero - especially for cases whose likeness was rare or missing entirely during training, like a 68-0 uber mismatch.
@saberdon2341
@saberdon2341 2 жыл бұрын
There was still time left on the clock, so there was still a chance that they make a comeback. Thus models can not predict a straight 0% chance of winning regardless of how insurmountable a lead is or is perceived to be
@clapdrix72
@clapdrix72 2 жыл бұрын
@@saberdon2341 That's not necessarily true. The actual probability, if it could be known, will never be never when there's time on the clock but models are imperfect because the data that's used to train them is imperfect.

This game reminds me a little bit of a high school game my dad played in back in the 1970s. My dad was a starting linebacker on a team that won about half its games that season. A nearby orphanage school had just scraped together a football team, and played against my dad's school. Due to injuries on his team, my dad started at nose tackle instead of linebacker, but even at the unfamiliar position, he had 11 tackles for loss despite spending the entire second half on the bench! His team was ahead 66-0 by the end of the 3rd quarter, and had to stop running offensive plays altogether and punt the ball back to the other team to keep from scoring even more, even with the full-time bench warmers in the game. According to my dad, the other team's QB was good-natured about it, though. He jokingly invited my dad into his team's huddle, "since you're in our backfield as much as I am!"

Because at the 3rd quarter of the game it is already garbage time and the worst part about that time is that there are no merits for players despite getting reps. Just stats padding. It is hard to have fun collectively when players don't shows up and that goes for anything. This game is obviously nowhere comparable to for example 2022 4-0 UCLA vs 0-4 Colorado. And I bring this example up here because Colorado is already becoming a terrible team being the member of bottom 25 in Division 1a. This is a mismatch at its own rights.

I went to one football game years back and watched them get beat by another small private college from the same city in Florida. And it honestly looked like watching a high school game and I believe it was on the Lake Wales high school field. Actually, Warner went 9-2 in 2016 and won the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) championship, only loses to Southeastern in 3OT and Stetson. That season they had several coaches that are now at a higher level of college football (like Dallas Baker, who is now the WR coach at Baylor); however, after that season, most of the coaches, including myself, left because of financial issues within the school. Warner then became a school that just accepts every athlete for the players' tuition.

Just looked it up, 105-0 and it was 1932. And dear lord I need to find out what happened to cause that score. The Georgia Tech record is because they were up against a school that didn't really have a football team.

@Ryan I agree 100% I'm against the mercy rule. We didn't play mercy, we put the second and third string in. If you think keeping the 1st string in when the score is that high, I pray you don't coach because that's when injuries happen. Only thing worse is kneeling during then anthem. Instant ejection

I've played against teams that are not great lol. We don't run the score up because we make it a practice for our team. Our players. We don't humiliate the other team. Nothing funny about this score. Those poor guys from Warner. This is literally the equivalent of a mid major Go5 team scheduling a D2 school. I played at a high school where basically the same thing happened, it was our first year of varsity football, we had twelve guys on the team, and we didn't have a conference so our AD scheduled games like two and three hours away against teams like the Class B state runner ups. It went about as well as you'd expect. There were only three of us that even wanted to keep the program going the next year. I'm not saying Warner is going to drop football, but it just sucks to get your asses pounded like that.
