You can't lose to the Kyver Drone anymore. With nothing on the board you win the fight with 51 HP left, the Drones skill does NOT add 50+ DMG, so it's safe to keep the board as is

Companion Core makes more sense now. It follows Dooley' "Create Engines" style and also just has better in story conceptualization. The friends are CHARGING the core. Its in the art. The core is doing its own thing after that

Complete agreement, wherever it lies on the balance scale is largely irrelevant because that can be changed. It is a more logically designed core for Dooley's kit and will make it so it isn't just the "take every friend" core every time. It still obviously can be, but it opens up room for Friends to be balanced without Companion Core exclusivity in mind, which is a great change.

@@Retromation agreed, Companion core functionally giving a board wide haste on a single item was incredibly strong, which meant every friend kind of had to be built with the idea of being permanently hasted by Companion core in mind. by switching it up like this they not only encourage build diversity by massively opening up the possibilities of what companion core pairs with, but open the floor for better balanced/more powerful and more interesting Friends that aren't instantly busted when paired with Companion core.

I feel like companion core is more playable now, it might not have the same level of synergy with specific items, but it now allows for more diverse builds and combos.

I was one of the Companion Core naysayers and I tried it yesterday. It felt...pretty solid. I don't love it, but I do have to eat some crow. A wing, at least.

Not sure if you'd be interested or if this is even feasible, but I had a thought for a challenge to spice things up a bit. Challenge: Monster Hunter Rules: 1. You must take every fight possible (or the chance for a fight). 2. When possible, your board MUST be comprised of monster items. You can buy/acquire and run normal items, but if you gain a monster item and don't have room on your board because of an item acquired from means other than a monster, you must unequip a filthy non-monster item to make room. 3. You can have any items in your inventory and can swap them out between fights, but every PVP and PVE fight must be undertaken with as many monster items as possible. 4. No cheese by selling monster items so you conveniently have room on the board for monster items. You can only sell a monster item to make room for another monster item. 5. No cheese by buying a "monster item" from a merchant. For example, you can run duct tape if you get it from a fight but you can't buy it later just because a monster uses it. 6. Only exception to the above rules is that Dooley can run a core. I think that covers it, but the spirit of the challenge is pretty clear if there are any exceptions or loopholes that pop up.

I've had no bad runs with companion core this patch. I've had some that haven't gone all the way to 10, but some that did and were very strong. Maybe it's not as strong as shield, crit, or burn cores, but c'mon, are there really people out there saying it's unplayable? People need to stop catastrophizing every balance change.

Speaking of reddit Ive seen a lot of complaint posts on reddit and its kinda baffling seeing their issues compared to watching you play. It honestly feels like theyre almost playing a different game than you lol (in the redditors need to git gud kind if way) I'm curious, how consistent do you get 10 wins when playing off camera?

I don’t know if it’s intended but I think it should be (and maybe used to be?) but the Combat Core counts as a vehicle for the skills (like Comman ship) even though it doesn’t have a vehicle tag. I *feel* like it did before but I don’t really know and it looks like a vehicle so that makes sense

Even just a simple win/lose percentage. Whaddya think?

hey reto i notice you tend to basically never have interest in atomic clock (or spyglass, but thats an un-upgradable single item effect), but value bonk very highly and valued old fort... well not as highly as bonk but more than atomic clock. is that just a matter of cooldown increase being good but not good enough to be worth space on board without another effect? or are there more nuanced per-character factors that i'm missing?

It's on purpose. He pronounced it correctly in early episodes. He pronounced proboscis "proboskis" now too, after several episodes of pronouncing it correctly. He pronounced DJ Robot "DJ Robaat" in the past, too He also called Gorgon Noble "Barnes & Noble" and Security Camera "Security Cameron"
