When it is watery like that and so thin it is not cod but Basa fillet made to look like a cod tail end . usually they double the thickness but cod is flakes not washed out white fish.

You need bits on the chips. Also try get haddock for the fish much nicer but you get haddock more up North. Come to Yorkshire. Brown sauce or spicy curry Irish curry sauce and a buttered teacake nice cup of tea you will love it
