The zip on tent is called an awning and it gives you extra space when you are staying in a caravan (it's not actually zipped on BTW). The caravan you saw is a touring caravan and is towed by another vehicle (usually a car). A static caravan is what you call a trailer and we call an RV a motorhome.

@neilgrundy
@neilgrundy 6 жыл бұрын
Yep, my local one is like that. Two fish and one portion of chips will do the job for two people. I asked the owner about it and his philosophy was that it's only a spud and costs him next to nothing. Large portions means people come back and the profit is on everything else. Massive profit on gravy and peas.

I remember the time it was supposed to be a massive heat wave so no one would brought their rain coats.. Then the obligatory rain storm would arrive and it would be the biggest downpour ever, everyone would be running into wilkos for bin liners. That one summer when you'd be walking around and everyone in the town was wearing polythene black bin bags with holes cut out for head and arms was the most surreal I'd experienced, it was like some Vivien Westwood fashion extravaganza.

Glad you liked it. There are real chippys in every town / main street in the UK, not just the coast by the way. You can only get 'real' fish and chips from a chippy, u will never get it the same at a pub or cafe or anywhere else, has to be a chippy, and they are everywhere. some better than others granted, but the taste is the same style. Oh, and you missed out on mushy peas!!!!!! Another point of interest is that i can confirm that having spent some time in New Zealand, their fish n chips is identical to the UK and just as popular, they took that over from us, also in Australia its exactly the same and very popular. I couldn't live without fish n chips, its a heavy meal sure, but boy is it satisfying!

The Endless Adventure. You seem like nice people, I hope Britain treated you well on your stay, you are always welcome. I'm afraid the weather is unpredictable, but it's what makes our country green and great too, we are rarely short of fresh water! It's also the number one talking point and conversation ice breaker! In my opinion there is nowhere better than a warm English summer morning in July, or sitting in a pub in front of roaring log fire in the winter, so you get the full extremes. Now onto the food! Looks like you went to a good place for fish and chips, Mevagissey in Cornwall. Quality varies from chippy to chippy but yours looked so fresh and tasty I want to try it myself from this place! But if you do it again may I offers some tips? Like skip breakfast and wait till you're really hungry, it tastes even better then and you can eat it all. We hate waste you see. Fish and chips is one of the top dishes of the world (even famous chefs and critics will agree), and no harm in dressing it up a bit! So... Great on it's own with salt and vinegar eaten with fingers, but awesome with mushy peas, curry sauce, bread and butter, lashings of hot tea. Of course you can eat it this way with a knife and fork (no rules) but remember always go to a traditional chip shop, it's simply never the same in a posh restaurant. This is basically British street food and we love it that way. Now for pudding! Cornish ice cream comes no better than what you tried so you had the best. How do I know? Long ago I once worked for Mr Kelly. He used the best Cornish milk and cream from Cornwall's lush wet green pastures. He was Italian. Need I say more?

I was lucky to travel to London, England and Edinburgh, Scotland in 1992 - while in Edinburgh I ate lunch two days in a row at The Clam Shell just down the street from St. Giles - the fish and chips were to die for - I thought I'd died and gone to heaven - VERY generous portions - and I was reminded by two elderly Scottish gents that the Scots use Haddock (which I love) and the English use Cod for their fish - the malt vinegar sauce is delicious - I have an empty bottle of Gold Star brown sauce that was a souvenior - love the memories - wish I had not waited so long to see both places.

Hey guys, it's not always rainy and horrible it's just that it's so changeable particularly in the south-west where the land is so exposed to the sea. Hot summer days are obviously the best and the blue skies and blue seas really change the dimension of the place. Still my most favourite place in the country.

That ice-cream flavour is pronounced EE-ton mess. Eton is a famous and elite school, the kind of place where David Cameron the previous Prime-Minister went. It was (apparently) a dessert that got invented by accident with bits of broken meringue and sugared (and for adults, some liqueur) strawberries rippling through whipped vanilla cream. It's delicious :D

Great adventure vid, guys! Glad you had a lovely time in Cornwall and really enjoyed the fish & chips! Thank you for being so polite about our food and sorry the weather was so bad. It usually is in Britain, I’m afraid. I’ve been going to Cornwall for holidays so many times over the years, and there’re so many lovely towns/villages to explore. If you get the chance to come back to Cornwall, I recommend places like Bude, Mevagissey, Morgan Porth and Port Isaac (to name only a few). So many fab beaches and places. Cornwall is ace. I’ve subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to seeing your other vids. Happy travelling!

fish and chips are the best - best eaten near the sea - the mix of fish n chips and sea air can't be beaten - best eaten out of newspaper, although they don't do that anymore - i remember that when i was a kid in the 50s and 60s - delicious!!!

Regrettably I live in Manchester, UK and you just can't get decent fish and chips for love or money. I could tell from your video you both hit Fish and Chip gold in Cornwall, as would be expected. Regrettably I live far too far away to be able to pop in to the shop and get some. Glad you got to sample what used to be our national dish. These days curry is said to be our favourite. Well, not for this ancient fish n chips lover!!

In the city I live in Bloomington Ill, there is a double decker English style bus that serves authentic English food, called Two Blokes and A Bus, you can get you food and leave, or go up to the second floor and sit and dine. They are always in a different location, but the food is really good. I have had the fish and chips, and if it any thing like what you had, I completely understand what you were saying.

In England not many people have RV’s or large camper vans. Instead, we have caravans that we tow with our cars and then we buy things called awnings that zip along the outside to give some added living space. You can get so many different types so it’s very flexible xx

RE: Your question about zip on RV tents. Those aren't RVs, we call them Caravans. Because our caravans are hooked up to a car, and often smaller than one of your large RVs, it allows us to have an extra bit of room so a family aren't climbing all over eachother. They also provide fresh air without the risk of getting soaked. I think if our Caravans were the size of your RVs, we would only have awnings rather than space maximising tents. But then, anyone who has a caravan needs to have their head examined, but that's a different topic for another day.

MouthstickGaming why? At least we in the uk have real weather, it varies. We can and do have four seasons in one day. Our countryside is lush and green most of the time, our cattle is outside for more than half the year, our seasons change, we rarely suffer extremes of weather, we are quite warm for such a northern country. Yet *you* feel you need to apologise.
