Once upon a time, the city of Tskaltubo, Georgia was a thriving spa town, with major Soviet figures such as Stalin frequenting the bath houses. After the fall of the Soviet Union, however, the local economy collapsed and tourism was all but non-existent. A year later, the Abkhaz war broke out mere kilometers away, and a wave of ethnically Georgian refugees coming from the territory urgently needed a place to stay. Over thirty years ago, the Georgian national government offered these refugees to stay in the abandoned sanatoriums completely for free, and many have been residing within the derelict walls ever since. Although, in recent years the refugees have been offered nicer apartments in various cities around Georgia, ultimately leading the sanatoriums to a destined state of lifelessness. In this film, we search for some of the last families of Sanatorium Medea, and uncover the last stories still left to be told within Tskaltubo's abandoned properties.

If you change Sanatorium to 'spa resort' more people will understand and click probably, idk just what I thought. Great video, keep it up.

Seems like it was a lovely area with nice buildings. Shame it has gone to ruins.

I can only imagine how beautiful it was there during the Soviet era. Now modern Georgia cannot build such a thing.
