Makes me cry happy tears. So many of us started driving like that. Slightly different trucks and locations. All not quite legit. Tired and feeling alive. Literally living the dream. Not just a goofy saying. When you go down the memory highway? I can listen again and again. I'm 62 now and still struggling with the cellulitis in my leg. Probably done. Been down to Rockland lately? Seeing your dad? I've been woke up a few times by "" drivers "" needing help. Banging on the door! I "" had a blowout and my wife and kid are with me and the %&#×××- tireguy won't take a Comcheck. " Same guy twice in the same week!😂! Told him he had the worst luck of anyone I ever met! Lol! Be well and safe travels and God bless you!

"Don't get caught", lol. Reminds me of the months after I got my CDL and ran to Pa. for my friend's dad. Got pulled over on the way home and made up a story about my "co driver" being in the hospital. Trooper had a brother that was a trucker and was quite understanding, he graciously told me to get back to NY and stay there until I was legal for interstate runs, lol.

Glad life is comfortable for you mikey. Same here, live in a townhouse, was gonna move but like you, market went to crap and we just decided to stay. Plus little one likes it there. In my opinion yellow couldnt manage their way out of a wet paper bag and the teamsters negotiated all those drivers out of a job. Pensions are a lost cause, 401k and ira's is where its at anymore. I found this job and landed it telling them that i want a company i can retire from. Pays not bad for a company driver, about 85ish a year with very good benefits. Hell im getting paid almost 30 an hour sitting here broke down waiting on a service truck. Rite beside i70 in st. Clairesville ohio waiting for hunter kenworth to get here. Anyway. Great video and im looking forward to the next one. At some point i will get to see you on the road when im running around mass.

Mike, if your father had stayed a teamster we will just say do you think you would have still gone over the road. My father drove a dump truck back in Ireland and I would go with him as a kid but always wanted to do long distance work into Europe. Ended up coming here to the states and at age 17 I saw a W9 pulling a 48ft spread reefer go up Queens Blvd and I knew I had to go OTR. Love the story time .

Sad to see the situation at Yellow. Im a retired UPS local delivery driver and glad to see the UPS contract ratified. If you haven't worked there its hard to understand the harassment, intimidation, retribution and working conditions for part timers and package car drivers. Never drove the big stuff but from what i always heard it wasnt as bad in that group.I would watch new hires leave after their 1st break on their 1st day of work. I understand that Unions aren't needed in every business but imagine in the year 2023 workers have to fight for AC in their vehicles. Great to hear your opinions. Those scales and DOTs don't give you trouble because you run a clean rig and look professional. One thing I learned early was keep a clean truck, and ESPECIALLY a clean interior. Scale master sees a bunch of loose papers and trash on your dash, looks like an easy ticket on a quick level 3 inspection. Don't be that easy mark. It has served me well so far.

I worked for ups part time just out of high school, not driving. But I was a Teamster. Since I was just loading traile, they didn't do anything for me. If you count how many LTL companies folded in the last 20 years. Because of great benefits for the drivers, the companies weren't profitable. Yellow Freight did this to themselves by buying out other LTL companies. Companies like Roadway,Jevic,USF Holland, ect. I feel for the drivers. They were probably expecting the unions to cover their ass.

That pisses me off 🤬, they do that on I-80 around emlenton to Clarion Pa and out on I-70 near zanesville Ohio at that new dot station that they put in ….. that’s just not right (especially like when I was hauling bulk tanks of cement powder)
