Even if you don’t know anything about HVAC, there’s something inherently rewarding about seeing a complex system get a proper diagnosis and repair to a fully functioning state, especially when ppl are so dependent on cooling and heating..thanks for all you do..!

Well Curtis it was mesmerizing to watch you pull all of those wires apart then reconnect everything screamingly with a second thought. The next thing you know they are all organized nice and neatly. You fire it up and it all runs without releasing any smoke. I have been watching you for some time now and I don't think you have put pen to paper yet! It is very entertaining to watch a guy that really knows what he is doing! ThanX!

If you are planning any trips to Lancaster, CA please let me know. I have a unit that is not keeping up with cooling. I’m terrified to call for service, because I know they will tell me an absurd amount of money for a complete unit. I wish all the techs had your ethics. Keep up the outstanding work! 😎

Nice work Curtis, it’s enjoyable to watch a tech do a complete job without cutting corners. Remember when blower motors lasted a long time? I have the original direct drive Emerson 1/3 hp in my 39 yr old Heil 80% furnace. Typically during cooling season it runs 24 hrs on manual fan. It has oil tubes, and as I proved with correct lubrication it’s going to outlast the furnace. I will be replacing the furnace this summer. I almost hate to do it too, I don’t expect near the life from the new 80% Trane that’s setting in the carton right now.
@chatrkat

@@two38382 I am actually looking forward to the job. I’m confident the Trane will provide years of service.

Curtis, this reminds me of situation that I would cringe about what would happen if it came true. Just imagine that the furnace and A/C being down for a month or so, due to a tech condemning it for replacement/not worth fixing. The homeowner calls, sets up a service call, and a tech comes out to check on it, finds a couple small things that are wrong, then decides to fix it. After some time on the job, the big elephant in the room comes out, vitals are bad, and instead of condemning the unit; it has to go through the full list of check ups and repairs. I could only imagine the gut punch of feeling of what it would be like trying to polish a turd....and already having time and money spent on a broken down system. I know a couple of techs on KZbin who went through this.

What do ya'll think about those fancy Milwaukee copper crimping tools? It'd be a real star for installs, and tricky joints like the one you just worked on. I'v used one, and it seems to do a really good job. I'm a big fan of classic oxy/acetylene, and could easily braze a suction stub like that. But man, that crimping tool would make those joints too easy.

What was it that caused you to diagnose a defective blower motor? When you tested the old capacitor, it was out of range. A 20mfd cap +\- 5% is out of range at less than 19mfd. The capacitor read 18.38...that's bad. Was the fact that spinning the cage didn't start the motor indicate a bad motor? Obviously, I'm not an HVAC tech, just curious.

After watching many of your videos it occurred to me to share a tiny piece of info I learned years ago as a young electrician. When you use a pair of side cutters and cut a Ty-wrap you should turn them 90 from the Ty because as you cut it, it rounds over the corners and doesn't leave those little razor blade ecges that will cut you when you least expect it in the future. A little pull pressure as you cut helps too. Love the vids!

I watch these videos on KZbin of this young man who goes around cutting people's grass who can't afford it or I'm going to hard times.. he always gets over a million views.. and forget about how many subscribers..
