Nice. I’ve got the same ac uni 2002. I replaced the contactor capacitor and fan motor a couple of years ago. I only have one capacitor and setup like he fixed it with only one. Just added an easy start for generator setup. Took LRA from 95 to 26. Great job!

These were the first systems I ever worked on when I started working in HVAC IN 1979. Still the easiest condenser to service. Remove 6 screws and you have access to all the parts that need to be replaced. remove the screws on the shroud and you have access to the outdoor coil. Nobody else come close for ease of service. There newer air handler’s not so great. The square condenser not so great.

In the year 2000 I moved from Alaska to Florida. I immediately bought an existing house. I had an air conditioning checkup and service on my A/C unit. That was well over twenty years ago and I have done zero maintenance to my unit. The unit is still working great. What is the life span for an air conditioning unit in Florida?

Depends how close to the ocean you live; my experience is twenty yeas inland and ten years at best coastal. 😎

Blow by..Just moisture comming out of the evaporator and supply air plenum, un avoidable especially in humid climates.

@Stephen Bullock yeah that's one of the main reasons ac companies do duct cleaning..I suggest some strong hydrogen peroxide spray to kill the mold but not damage the ducts and equipment.

Just in this because I find the videos interesting, and one should never stop stacking the brain. So the question may be simple or not much of a question at all. But them wanting it lower on a somewhat reasonable day (reasonable to me). Is there a point where you overwork a system asking too much from it, are there written or common sense limits or expectations?

Homeowners need to take some Initiative and keep the Areas around their Outdoor Unit Clear of Dirt, Leaves and Other Debris unless they Like spending Big $’s. 🤪👎

I skipped around but that's a pretty old unit right if it's R22? New board and a relay is a pretty pricey repair. Did they get a quote from you for system replacement too?

and 5 grand might be low now you need the matching furnace with the variable blower to get the higher rating

Curtis, do you recommend cheap filters for better air flow? I've heard both camps, I'm using a merv 11 now. I do have dogs and my old system had lots of dog hair.

I’ve used really great filters and my Trane XV95 still looks brand new on the inside..probably more than 10 years old now..whole thing stays really super clean..
