Tom I can't believe it in my opinion the mess they have made in St Helier with all the appartments being built a total eyesore. I was also amazed when you said they need to actract more people into the town. When I lived there I remember having to walk around so many people in King st and Queen st just to get out off the way. Our friends did say to us you will see big changes in town on your next visit and no kidding. Cheers

Yes Nic, I remember those days.......it used to take 15 minutes to walk down King street, dodging people and chatting to friends you met every twenty yards. Times have changed my friend!

I saw Jurassic park and the last of the mohicans in the old ocean cinema when I was a kid. I left jersey in 1994 after living there for a few years and I am coming back for the first time in 30 years in a couple of weeks. Can't believe it's been so long. Thanks for the video. Funnily enough we are staying in that premier inn there too!

Yes the changes have got to happen with your population getting bigger they all need somewhere to live ✅ so many memories you have brought back to me my friend on this island the jewel in the crown 💕 my favourite building is the market so very Victorian and the fish on display ✅😮 wow anyway my friend's thanks for the 🎥 I'm having a wonderful weekend now roll on 2 Mora for the next journey All the best to you all John 😊😊

Hi John, great to hear that your having a wonderful weekend! What you say about the need for accommodation is very true. Some younger people are leaving the island because of the lack of affordable places to live! 🏚️🏡🏘️ I keep meaning to film inside the market and will definitely get around to it soon! A big thumbs up to you as usual John! 👍

Yes big changes Tom, doesn't look like the same place, looks horrendous, to me, I've heard that the tourism is really bad, should of kept, some of the hotels & guest houses going, for what people have to pay to come is rediculious price's, you can go abroad for the same.....it was nice to see the Prince of Wales public house, also worked there in 1982 /83 for Ray, he & his wife ( can't remember her name,??) Senior moment lol, they we're lovely, I lived in the customs public house on the esplanade ( number 10 I think) loved living there I could see out to Elizabeth castle & watch the old Earl Granville ferry come in at 8.30am Wonder if that building is still standing??. Don't think paddy G would of enjoyed that walk as much as the country side.

Hi June, I seem to have missed your post and just noticed it! Yes, tourism has definitely slipped and I think they have missed a trick, as I feel a lot of people nowadays are getting fed up with all of the hassle of long haul flights abroad.....I certainly am! I think it could still be an ideal tourist spot for people from the UK if marketed correctly! I'm not sure if the Customs Pub building is still there.......I'll find out and let you know! Paddy enjoyed the walk but his real favourite is the beach! 🏖️🩴🐕

Wow Massive changes alright! I was born and grew up in Jersey I left in 1975 and have been back to visit many times. Last visit must be 7 years ago😲 Caught sight of my friend's business...Premier Carpets and Furnishings in Providence Street👋 Think I'll need a map on my next visit!

Thanks Tom for these walk arounds, Some of this new architecture looks good and yet if you look beyond it ,it simply looks like a square german bunker that haven't been rounded on the edges. Ref tourism yes we could have had two weeks all inclusive in Europe for the price we had paid for 5 days in a 3 star hotel in jersey The states need to have a re think with regards putting all their eggs in one basket by pushing it to be the tax haven and money market, hey ho no amount of money to holiday at jersey will not stop us from visiting because it still retains its magical atmosphere regardless, thanks to paddy and you

Hi Brian, some wise words there! I can't put my hand on my heart and say I have much confidence in the States when it comes to making any significant decisions! However, despite that Jersey still has something special about it. I feel very lucky to live on the island!

Hi Tom and a special hi to Paddy G , still trying to look at your recent 3 vlogs but it will come when time is spare. St.Helier is changing and so many new builds , are they getting ready for the rubber boat's from France.🤔🤔🤫

Ooh don't say that Lloyd! I am surprised at the lack of them, but apparently it is quite treacherous attempting to land in Jersey. Easier popping over to the white cliffs!

Hi, thanks so much for your comments. This video was filmed on Wednesday, 31 January 2024. The weather the last few days hasn't been cold........I went out for a walk today wearing a T shirt, thin jumper and a cotton jacket and by the end I was getting too warm. However, it can change rapidly at this time of year! 👍

I always tell grockles that coins fall out of cyclists pockets when they ride down French Lane. it is fun watching them get excited at finding a coin on the floor, only for them not to be able to pick it up. lol

Hi Sheila, I have to say that a lot of the buildings that were demolished weren't great anyway and it is great that there is enough funding around to have such a massive re-development. I also haven't been to Jac's for a few years. They used to do a very nice bowl of noodles! Paddy is a smooth operator! 😁😁😁
