Language and how you articulate yourself is an interesting topic. I take the view that we are relational beings; so I believe that our surroundings and environment does influence how we articulate and conduct ourselves. However, slag does not necessarily mean you have a low IQ. Akala for instance speaks slang, but if you listen to his podcasts on imperialism and colonialism you will quickly realise he is a very knowledgable person. Also, some of my former classmates spoke slang (white, English) but would ace their English lit and English language exams. So I think it's about taking personal responsibility;, meaning if you want to do better academically then read instead of scrolling on Instagram and blaming your environment for your low grades.
