That V is insanely cool. The extra wood is so weird an unique alone, but the headstock... I love freaky guitars with mismatched headstocks. You never realize how cool an Xplorer headstock would look on a Les Paul until you see it, and this is one of those gems IMO. Buy it!! lol

My Wife’s 1973 Camaro is painted a color called “Midnight Green” that is similar to that first Les Paul. Unless it is in direct sunlight it looks black. Imo it’s as great look as long as the finish is glossy.

I thought the same thing, but that symbol is only vaguely similar to the Coheed 'Keywork' icon. The triangle and circles are different sizes and in different orientation. Maybe it was a mock up or prototype for Travis Stever's custom Les Paul, but they didn't have the right artwork yet?

The Mike Ness signature is so ridiculously overpriced! I'm guessing most were bought by someone thinking they were going to make money on it but no one wants them for retail let alone more. Mike Ness doesn't have very many fans that can afford that anyway!

The guitar with the weird symbol you could barely see looks kina like the coheed and cambria keywork symbol. I mean Coheed is known for playing Gibson.

I'm not sure its even possible to document every cherry sunburst available! Basically all I know is Clown-Burst = BAD, and any other version that looks better! They might be able to document all the insects in the Amazon Basin, but all the different Burst colors, that may be a bridge too far! OF NOTE, I'm a big Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, but I absolutely cannot stand the Southern Rock Bursts with the heart in the middle (I'm sorry, I just don't care for that).

I think Gibson has a physical book of all of their shades of sunburst. It's called something like "The Book Of Bursts". It's one of the options for their Made To Measure Program. I don't know where you can get it though.

He has had a family emergency so my order has been delayed. TBH, his work is so good I'd wait a year if I had to! I've also not received the body back from Bloom Doom Guitars. AND, I've an order with Stew Mac that has 184 items on the invoice (the Stew Mac Bill scares me). Other than that, like I mentioned to Highvoltage1999, I've been able to play guitar all day today! I've been working on my hybrid picking!

Trini Lopez had absolutely no idea how far his guitars were going to expand themselves. He never thought of Dave grohl, he never knew that they were going to be played by so many famous people and adored by so many for their cutaways.. I love to look at them with crazy finishes. It warms my heart to know this man had no idea but it is guitar is going out of the stratosphere

I should not be surprised. Guitars never cease to amaze. I'm always learning something new. Today it was the P94 pup. I had to pause the video and do a quick shallow dive to find out the scoop. It's a P90 in the shape of a humbucker so it will fit in a humbucker routing. Got it. I love guitars. Always something new to learn especially on the Troggley Show!

Cool, I kind of miss TV and entertainment. I've kind of shunned all media for the past 8 years or so. Funny, wife and I have a 60" 4K TV with surround sound we never use (I've even taken the batteries out of the remotes!) That said, my wife was out of town last week and I fired the entertainment system up to watch the new Top Gun movie...........it was most excellent. Maverick is kind of the Hammerhand of the sky!

Just do it. And persevere. There'll be days when you want to give up because progress is slow. Just be stubborn and keep practicing. A few weeks later and you'll notice you have improved - it's just not something that leaps ahead day to day. Your fingertips will callous over after a couple of weeks. The initial pain is natural and will soon go away. Your finger strength and dexterity will improve, just keep going. Your finger strength for barre chords will build, if you keep practicing. Learn a simple'ish song that you love, because you're going to be playing it a lot. It's not motivating playing stuff you don't enjoy. Find something you enjoy playing. Books are hard. You can't hear what they're describing, you don't know if you're getting it right or wrong. Video helps with seeing/hearing what you're aiming for, but even then some tutors are better than others at explaining some things. There are lots of free resources - find one that has tutors you vibe with. JustinGuitar, AndyGuitar, even a free trial of Fender Play. You'll click with some more than others. Don't put the guitar in a case under the bed. Leave it out so it's always in the corner of your eyeline. Remove all the impediments to picking it up, even for 5 minutes during a tv ad break. Controversial... If you want to play electric, learn on electric. If you want to play acoustic, learn on acoustic. You've got to keep your motivation up on the tough days when you don't feel like practicing - it's harder to motivate yourself if an acoustic was just a stepping stone. If you have a logical mind, don't expect music theory to make sense. It's a mess of badly named things and often arbitrary rules. Just remember the stupid quirks, don't try and rationalise them.

@@terryhaun1863 yup, I think we've all been there at some point. It's hardest when progress is slow. You have to be stubborn and find some way to mind-game yourself into practicing. But only you know what motivation technique works best for you.

The deep green Custom is not a new thing. I played one at the Woodwind and Brasswind store in South Bend in 2009 or 2010. The green was so dark it was almost black.

Daron from SoAd has been seen playing a flying V with a les paul custom headstock but its abstring thru not a bigby. The symbol on the les paul looks very similar to Travis Stever's LP custom that has a symbol similar to it

The Amarena Red Cherry Satin LP Special Marauder reminded me of Brain May's Red Special. The V headstock just doesn't look right on it. The Red Berry Sparkle 1976 LP Deluxe VOS looks great but that's because I like red sparkle finishes on guitars.

Troglydytes: I called Gibson USA today to learn why they didn't have any archtop jazz boxes on their website. Turns out, Gibson is no longer producing Super 400s, L5-CESs, Tal Farlows, ES-5s, or ES-175s! There is a Custom Shop Chuck Berry ES-350, but that's it. The rep said they "may bring them back in the future," but he didn't sound too reassuring. Guessing prices will begin to rise? What do you think, fellow Troglys?
