Round 2 Humanity built a nanotech weapon that targets and devours tech. The entirety of its construction was carried out on a desolate planet. Everything concerning it from its schematics to communications about the weapon were done in pen and ink. Once built they delivered the a weapon to the each and every AI system controlled planet and outpost. On the nanite bombs were written only one sentence, "We have been trying to get in touch with you about your battleships extended warranty."

As far as stuff is concerned this is actually a case where the Sci fi bs in the middle of the story has genuine glints of truth. Make their processing inefficient by directly taking advantage of however the program was optimized and avoid doing that.

The earth never was under the UCP. When did that come up before the end? It was said the earth was insignificant and the visit was so they could make the peace and be a foot note in the ucp and not forgotten. Then they realized. Oh they’re slick in battle. Good thing they’re under our protection… What?

Meh. Too many tropes mixed together. Fred Saberhagen would be proud that his Berserkers inspired Yet Another Copycat (the term "berserker" even makes it into the story), but the Plucky Human Resolve Providing The Determining Factor still raises its ugly head. SF authors have got to get past this.

@@johnsteiner3417 You‘re right John, but here’s the issue we learned real quick with KZbin. For small channels, quality is your enemy because only a small minority will support it. When we put out quality videos that took a lot of time to make, they were our lowest viewed. You can’t blame people for liking McDonald‘s low quality food when you have a gourmet burger restaurant that gets no foot traffic. 🤷 In the beginning you have to go where the traffic is in order to build a platform. Just look at the top HFY sci-fi channels. A lot are absolutely terrible but get so much traffic and support it’s crazy!

There seems to be a surprising number of stories on this channel about how humans beat various aliens or save the galaxy or just generally rule. I guess that it's good to be proud of your own species, but I'd save some of the self-congratulation and aggrandizement until we actually meet some aliens to compare. As it is, it comes off more like tribal prejudice than forward-looking SF.

You're dealing with literal non-humans. Languages change for the venue. Space is CrAzY! Crazy woke language makes sense. In the words of Isaac Asimov "science fiction is the last place where philosophers can play to their heart's content" It is boundless by nature. Play around with sacred principles of language because it's a fantasy world of the distant future. It took me a while, but it all takes me back to ~5 years old: "Life is real, fiction is make-believe" so just enjoy it
