There may have been a time when it made sense to save up for the one once but over the last 18 months with the price rising so fast it costs more to save up a 100 a week.

Only a year ago I tried to encourage new stackers to start buying fractional gold because it was alot more affordable and I got bombarded by elite stackers who said I was an impatient idiot who didn't know what I was talking about. I warned them they will regret the colorful language and insults they hurled at me... 1 year later, look where we're at.

that sucks. i follow a few dozen stacker collector channels and avoid posting on several of them due to the snobs with opinions about everything. most of the community is very supportive no matter what your stack preferences are, but there are a few out there who just gotta hate on anything different than what they do or think is right. booooo to them. yaaaaaayyyy to supportive communities

I try to buy a 1/10 of each gold and platinum every month, sometimes I can get more gold if the price is right when I decide to buy. I give myself an allowance for silver every week and typically only buy the dips its worked out well for me so far.

Silver Heist made a similar video titled "What If Fractional Gold Coin Premiums Didn't Matter? (2024)". I reacted to that video by doing the math. Since February 1973 buying fractional gold has outperformed buying 1 ounce gold in just under 6% of the time. In over 94% of the time you're better off saving up for an ounce. By having had a year that falls into that 6% category and then stating that buying fractional gold is the better way to go seems a bit silly to me.

exactly, plus stacking platinum is questionable
@cyclingphilosopher879828 күн бұрын
@@fullalbums5675 Well, there is something to be said for platinum. If you look at the past 50 years the platinum to oil ratio, platinum to silver ratio and even the platinum to cumulative CPI ratio are all very low. That strongly suggests platinum is pretty undervalued. Problem with platinum is the premiums and the depth of the market.

Time in beats timing… “in a world of out of control central banks, crazy government, and uncertainties” I’m about to write the George gammon rebel capitalist intro for you lol. It doesn’t matter. Golds not going up because of inflation, it’s going up because it’s neutral. The same will be true for all these resources. Every citizen on the globe for the most part are all under the same exact threats from their governments. It’s a global rush to safety.

@@fullalbums5675platinum under 50% of golds price is a no brainer buy signal historically speaking. The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.

The premiums are going up around +3% for every size step (1/1 -> 1/2 -> 1/4 -> 1/3). So if the price change is less then 6% during saving period it is better to save. E.g. instead of buying 1/4 every month it is better to buy 1/2 every 2 months until the price rise is more than 6% per month. Even if the price goes up 6% I am paying 3% less premium for double size piece (price +6% - 2x3%). It is the about the same price as if I bought the first half 6% lower (-6%) but with +3% premium (due to smaller size) then bought the other half with +3% premium again. It gives total 0% gain comparing to the saving for 2 months. So maybe saving from 1/10 to full 1oz may be to long, but saving for a 2 months or 3 months to avoid buying 1/10 or 1/4 can be worth it the money.

The rate of the price changing has made buying 1/10s affordable compared to trying to save for a 1 ounce coin. Hope you’re safe and sound with the hurricane coming through.

If you can buy them at a reasonable premium, fractional coins are great. Take a look at 1/4 oz gold, gold 20 francs and gold ducats. Silver fractionals are becoming more popular because silver is going up too. See also junk silver.

I planned on filling a small, 20-coin tube with 1/10th ozt gold coins, and I paid an average of about 210 USD for them, but I switched focus to fractional platinum when the gold got got so high. The 1/10th platinum Britannia can be bought for a fair price, but I also found good deals on 1/4th plat eaglets and the 1/3rd ozt Australian series. One reason I recommend fractional vs saving for an ounce is that money can end up going to something else, and you end up not getting the ounce coin. Recent spot has vindicated those of us who stacked fractional. There's always the possibility of a huge dip in the future, but I seriously doubt we'll ever see 1800 gold again, but platinum at 1000 is a bargain!

I personally prefer just saving for full ounces but if I do buy a fractional coin, it’s always a 1/4 ounce because the premium is not as bad as a 1/10 ounce
