I personally think that Viktor getting some sort of rework is a good thing, the champ is not in a great spot. I also think that giving Viktor some sort of visuals alluding to his arcane version is good, esp in bringing arcane viewers to the champ. I personally just think that a whole visual update around his arcane version, removing his old lore entirely, feels not the best

My fear is going forward we're going lose champion identities in favor of different characters. Viktor was a scientist that used gadget he made in the depths of Zaun to bring about his idea of a better future. If you liked the idea of a Machinist with a jame bond style lazer beam. Tough luck that character archetype is gone. So going forward if someone at right or the animation studio deside that Gragas is boring and "problematic" then what? Will Gragas be changed to a skinny guy throwing water bottles? There are core identities to every character. The shows should honor that. Imagine actually reading the lore being excited after season 1 waiting for Vander to become Warwick and Viktor to be Viktor only to have your hopes crushed and your champion changed afterwards.

And please stop repeating bad talking points. "Viktor's lore is problematic" "Viktor had a low play rate" Viktor had around 3-5% playrate for awhile. Viktor's lore was: Deep sea divers would get scared while deep under water and expire. Viktor suggested turning off the divers fear. Jayce wasn't a fan of that idea and then Viktor was kicked out of plitover for suggesting it. His design for blitzcrank was also stolen. Since then he's been in zaun augmenting himself. He's basically a depressed man that believes emotions get in the way of what needs to be done. Look at the new Viktor, does he look like he's from PnZ? Targon? The Void?
