Superb video. Thank you. I was just taking pliers to the main connector and undoubtedly would've broken something! So thank you for saving me from that!

Grazie, grazie, grazie! Against all odds I've managed to disassamble the crankset of my ebike buying after mulling over a lot what gear to buy on Amazon (pricey as hell: 38 euro for the Park Tool Lrt-2 and 6 euro for the Shimano piece of plastic "torque" key). Keep up the good work!

Great video. Which torque value to apply when mounting the 6 main screws ? Thanks.
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic2 жыл бұрын
There is no specified torque from shimano, you would need to use a generic chart depending on the size of the screw.bolt.

Hi Dave, great video! I was amazed how easily you removed the lockring on the chainwheel, as they're supposed to be done up to 40Nm. I changed mine (factory fitted) recently, and had to hang on to the left hand pedal and then use a tremendous effort to undo it. Its odd that the Shimano tool, unlike the Park tool, doesn't have a hex fitting, is there a special "crows foot" to go onto a torque wrench for tightening? I wonder what the mileage was on that motor, and how you rate them for reliability, against the Bosch? Cheers....Pete

@1yasin611 ай бұрын
Legally speaking It's not considered a bike anymore if it has a throttle. So be careful but you can also just buy a e bike with a throttle but it's not allowed on public roads anymore

Hi, Thanks for watching, E10 is a tricky one to solve, it generally needs a diagnostic session to sort out but often means internal software errors.

I have a focus jam 2 & love it so honestly dreading this day as I saved every penny to buy one second hand so wouldn’t have any warranty & tbh have it derestricted Would love to know cheers
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, thanks for watching.. What would happen if your motor developed a fault or became noisy. We would look at your motor to assess the problem. If it’s become really noisy we can rebuild it for you at a cost off £265.00 plus postage, if it’s not repairable we would send it to Shimano and ask for a cost to replace, the full replacement cost of a new motor is approx £900.00. To avoid this cost it’s best to have the motor rebuild as soon as the motor becomes noisy, hope that helps.

Hi John, it’s awkward at the moment. I generally book an assessment of the bike, make a list of any parts needed, check my stock then check supplier stock, depending on what I find I re book the bike in after the parts have arrived, some bikes I have had to turn away because the parts are not available and there are no alternatives

Shimano is sending me a replacement e7000. My bike shop guy says he needs a tool to adjust the factory settings to the shifting of my bike. Do you know what tool that is and if I need it? Can one of shimano’s apps help me tune my derailleur to the motor?
@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic3 жыл бұрын
Hi that’s good news, the tool is software based, each motor is programmed for the gearing required, once it’s done it’s set for life, only those with the correct software can change it
@emtbarkansas81383 жыл бұрын
@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic so basically the software sets the motor to the shimano xt derailleur on my bike?
