New York City is apparently being plagued by a wave of noise complaints from neighbors having noisy sex. Since last February, the city’s noise complaint helpline heard 277 complaints of noisy sex, with Queens leading the boroughs with 103 complaints. "A wave of “sex mayhem” has apparently been sweeping New York City, prompting residents to lodge an increasing number of noise complaints to a government helpline.
New York is no stranger to noise complaints - New Yorkers file as many as 75,000 a month - but new 311 call data obtained by Patch has revealed that many recent complaints arise from those disturbed by their neighbors’ late-night ventures.
From 19 February 2021 to 9 February this year, the website reported, the official helpline received 277 complaints about noisy sex. Queens produced the most, with 103. Manhattan came second with 66 while Brooklyn produced 55, the Bronx 48 and Staten Island four.
In Cross Bay Boulevard, in Queens, 56 complaints were logged about “hippies” allegedly dressing up as Freddy Krueger, Pennywise and the Easter Bunny while engaging in coital revelry as the theme song of Velveteen Dream, a pro wrestler, blasted in the background."

I used to be the manager of my families hotel, I can confirm that there are a lot of complaints of loud sex noise. The way I see it; people get turned on by being somewhere different or away from the kids. I'm all for anything that gets people in the mood and banging. Enjoy life to the fullest!!

Why is this even reportable? Just be respectful of your neighbors by being aware of your own noise level. Had a neighbor purposely have loud sex late at night while I was on an OBGYN rotation in medical school where I was getting up to be present at 5am. I was tired an unable to function after trying to ignore it for 2 weeks. The OB floor was actually so kind to me and let me rest in the on call room when they questioned why I was so exhausted and sluggish. As for the neighbor, he was told by the landlord that if he didn't stop, he would be evicted. When will certain adults grow up?

Hello from Leicester, UK . I worked in a hotel for 21 years, not uncommon for guests to ring reception and complain about noise from other guests, this would happen several times a week, not once did I knock on the doors and tell them to keep the noise down, why should I ruin a couples (or sometimes more) fun.

The population density of Manhattan, for example, is about 10 times that of Staten Island. Keep in mind that NYC with 8.8 million inhabitants is the 10 most densely populated city in the world and the most densely populated city in the USA. Edit: If you put equally number of people in each square mile ( after dividing the total NYC area in one square mile each), you could fit 27,000 people in each square mile. 1 out of ever 38 people living in the USA lives in New York City.
