When I was a child, I studied in a private school with a lot of rich kids. Yes, Trump is very similar to some of them, those ones who humiliate you because you don't have that much money like them and sort. One day, they even insulted and launched stones to a group of natives (I live in Mexico) because they were pretty racist too. Trump is somebody like them, a rich kid that has never felt consequences of his acts and feels himself too almighty to humble a bit in order to become more empathic in the society.

Anti-intellectualism is really par for the course for this President, though as a scientist this hits home for me very personally. I went to high school with people exactly like Trump and one time someone told me that in order for me to get a girlfriend I needed to stop liking science. So this brings back a lot of bad memories that I thought I would never think about again. I worked very hard for my career and I never had any kind of legacy (or rich daddy) to back me up, but because I don't meet their definition of "tough" I'm somehow a weakling. Christ and people wonder why I am becoming more socially progressive by the day alongside Democratic Socialist. I thought I left this BS behind when I graduated from 12th Grade. Speaking as someone who has been practising as a structural engineer for over 20 years I find Trumps remarks against construction industry professionals to be deeply troubling. He is the epitome of the anti-intellectual movement that has gathered pace over the past 10 years to the point that people are professing the belief that the world is flat because it makes them feel better. People voted for Trump because he said things that made them feel better, for whatever reason. Emotions are king and facts, when not aligning with people's beliefs, are bad. That is the culture that we have somehow cultivated and it needs to be snuffed out and quickly.

Spot on, although tragically it's more than 10 years; after all, being smart has always been viewed with suspicion. When has it ever been cool?! You're right though, it's deeply disappointing that people will champion flat-earthism rather than actually bothering to learn something. I'm a construction worker (specifically journeyman carpenter), I've seen a lot of pencil pushers taking these positions straight out of school, 0 experience and about as much muscle to back it up too. I've also seen a lot engineers and architects start out in the same place that I did. Trenching in the mud, lugging lumber, and absorbing everything they can during their apprenticeships. So, yeah. It's just stereotypical bullshit from the mind of an overgrown child who has no way of relating to anyone in the real world.

Architects have a fiduciary responsibility to protect the health safety and welfare of the public. To shirk that responsibility can result in a loss of their license to practice. Contractors, on the other hand, can cut corners much easier... which, evidently, makes them 'strong'.

I am an engineer, I am female, I have heel spurs (on one foot), plantar fasciitis on the other and I worked on an offshore rig. I went and worked right beside the guys 12 hour towers with steel toe boots and hard hat, covered in hydraulic fluid, barite and mud. I climbed ladders to the very top of the derrick, webbing and all. I watched a teammate get his finger mashed off due to listing of the ship and stayed there to help get the 2 ton piece of metal off his hand. It was the hardest job I have ever done and I was raised on a dairy farm. I made spreadsheets, analyzed data, so many reports and my engineering duty in the home office. So Trump and his options...All I can say is: Bring it you bitch, I can out work you and out think you before my first cup of coffee.

I know people get tired of these comparisons, but in contrast, during the 2008 convention at the Disability Caucus, one of the members who used a wheelchair raised a concern to the Obama campaign - he had gone to use the bathroom in the Chicago office building in which then-Candidate Obama's campaign headquarters was located, and gotten trapped because the door was too heavy for him to pull open. This wasn't a bathroom in the campaign headquarters itself - just the public one in the same office building. I, as a fellow wheelchair user, kind of thought the guy was being unreasonable tbh. I've gotten trapped in bathrooms before, it happens, yeah it's embarrassing, but the Obama campaign (or whatever org/business I might be visiting) isn't responsible for the *entire* office building, right? Two weeks later (I think - I'd have to check), there was an email from the campaign. "We're sorry about that bathroom issue. We weren't able to get the bathrooms fixed throughout the building, but the bathroom nearest campaign headquarters now has a push button automatic door opener. Thanks for a great caucus!" That's what I'd call above and beyond tbh, but really, it's not rocket science to at least not make fun of us/call us "hard to watch"/do things that actively bar us from buildings.

I was actually pretty amazed when I found out (years ago now) that my local Democratic party headquarters was fully accessible... I'm in a very red area of a very red state and our local Dem party runs on spit and willpower, so I was fully expecting it to be some sort of accessibility nightmare, but nope... they managed to do a great job, mostly by accident! I ran for local office in gratitude and got my ass soundly whomped, Sam Seaborn style. :)

Construction workers may look "strong" from working endless harsh hours in the field but the 'weak' scientists and engineers are the ones making it possible for construction workers to do their jobs in the first place with equipment that doesn't fail and kill people every few minutes and produce structures that should withstand the test of time. You wouldn't have modern construction materials everything is made from without scientists and engineers either.

Just basing on my own experience and i remember when i was fourteen ... i didnt know shit about the world. Thats where i see Trumps mental state. He doesnt know anything about the real world politics and social matters, and thus his opinions are very biased and small minded. At the age of 14 i would have thought a "SpaceForce" would be cool ...and i would have no idea what Brexit meant.. The difference is , my brain was still developing... his is done.
