Brown hair coiffed, Ray-Bans perched on his nose, and a small cut on his forehead (which he sustained while stepping out of his car), Rubin is speaking into his phone, live on Periscope. “These are good people,” he announces. “Good people trying to live their lives. Understand who the good guys are right now.” This tiny gathering, he assures us, is the beginning of a change in California-a “fight” to take back the state and the country. Rubin had made a similar point a few months earlier about the “absolutely massive” Trump rally he attended in Beverly Hills (“happy people … I mean everything that is great about America really was there”).
As of this writing, the host of KZbin’s The Rubin Report has 1.3 million Twitter followers and 1.79 million KZbin subscribers, who have helped to make him one of the most notable influencers on the contemporary American Right. But amid a field of frauds, clones, and wannabes, Rubin’s path to political celebrity has been among the strangest. Once a gay comedian from New York, he became a dissatisfied liberal LA interviewer, and has now decamped to Miami in his latest incarnation as pro-Trump, Newsmax-commentating, party-line Republican. There, he rallies with Ron DeSantis, dines with Donald Trump Jr., and guests at Peter Thiel’s fundraisers."

I don’t assess Rubin as a journalist; he’s pretty unabashedly a propagandist, and there’s a natural synergy between being unscrupulously mercenary and serving the far right. When it does come to journalism, a classic rule of professionalism is to have a wall between the editorial and advertising departments - but of course anyone can see what ads are published. Even without institutional pressure, it’s a matter of self discipline not to let that awareness corrupt reporting.

Puts me in mind of an infinitely more extreme and hideous example in history. Reinhard Heydrich in his youth, was an ambitious serviceman in the german navy, who was forced out of the navy due to a scandal. Many who were interviewed after WWII who knew Heydrich stated that he never would have become the monster he became had he been allowed to remain in the navy. If only Dave Rubin would have just found success in comedy, but then again. If only Adolf Hitler had found success earlier on as an artist like he wanted. Would the catastrophe and atrocities of the years between 1933 and 1945 have been averted entirely?

Hitler could have found his level as a magazine illustrator. But of course he could never have accepted that. It’s like saying, “If he wasn’t so screwed up he might have got married in his twenties got his end away regularly and had less time for politics”. He was deeply unappealing and could only get women from a position of power: his niece who killed herself, and Eva Braun.

You are expecting that any of the people that you have mentioned had any compassion towards humanity. They all have or had narcissistic behavior. Even if their circumstances were different, it wouldn’t have changed their outlook in life. And, nothing in life is that simple to analyze and predict. You are right that we should be more kind and show more love towards other human beings. Maybe it could prevent bad choices and wars in the future.

but they showed how he doesnt Have an ideology. he's just self serving, looking for career advancement, shifting to whoever will give him the most money. he's stated this to his former co-hosts. kyle kulinski has mentioned that dave once asked him what his next career move is, implying that stepping up the economic ladder is the goal, not sticking to a certain set of beliefs. rubin's ambition trumps his ideology. you can see that, cant you?

I remember watching a clip many years ago it was like a half hour long with I think Ben M. Cenk and maybe it was John with Dave and he was doing the Israel defense. I believe thats the video Cenk is referencing, and yeah, despite disagreeing with Dave vehemently, you all were nothing but respectful to him when you debated him, even though it was 3 on 1 ,and Cenk even acknowledged that... but of course Dave has to lie because, thats what Conservatives do, they have to pretend the left are the intolerant ones if they want to make money with the right wing talk show grift these days. And btw, I do think Dave was genuine in disagreeing with you back then, what he does now, is not that. You don't have to be conservative about everything, Dave was clearly more conservative about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, fine, but that wasn't enough for him, he wanted the money Lebowski.
