"Wasn't nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with." Amen, and amen! What better statement to describe, even today, the injustices that Michael had to endure-that, and Marlon's "Being judged...ridiculed...how much pain can one take? Maybe now, Michael, they will leave you alone."

I love what Sharpton said to MJ's kids, "There was nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what he had to deal with!" I totally agree. The media drew and quartered him because he was the first massively successful black entertainer. RIP Michael. Love you forever.

To me, Michael had such a prophetic message. He came to us as a child with a gift and blessed the world with his talent. From the beginning people hated him, accused him of disgusting things, but he took it on the chin and continued with his message. Even when it seemed like everyone in the world had turned on him, he thanked god for every moment of his life. Look back on Michael Jackson's life and try to tell me he wasn't the closest thing to a messiah we've had in a long time.

I agree with how you relate the scars comment with Al Sharpton himself. That's exactly how I feel, and I scoff those who say "he finally said something intelligent" like he hasn't ALWAYS been doing that. We have just been conditioned to think otherwise because when I get on youtube and look up what he's actually said, I'm not surprised at his brilliance on tuesday.

Al is like that drunk uncle at a wedding. You all know what Im taking about. Sometimes he can calm, collective and articulate points dead on. Then there other times when you're like "did Uncle Al just say that???" Since this was a global telecast, he was pretty tame....thanks be to Jebus.

Michael did more for race relations AROUND THE WORLD than all our b.s. politicians put together. Sharpton earned my respect a long time ago, and he got it again today with this speech. Michael was nutty, but that wasn't his fault. How man of us didn't have fucked up parents and look at how we turned out? Most of us are crazy and we're not even famous. RIP MICHAEL JACKSON!

Michael is the perfect example of what will happen to a person that has dangerously low self esteem and unmendable childhood scars when they get into the spotlight and can't escape it. Its ironic that the pain killerrs that he was prescribed just to go on with daily life normally turned out to be what ended his life.
