Kia Optima Window Regulator Replacement & Repair 2016- 2021 Left Rear

Hey buddy I got a question. I’m trying to put my regulator on but it’s a tiny bit off and not sitting proplerly. Do you have any advice? I’m at a loss. It’s my front right I have a 2015 and I got the right regulator and I checked to see if it goes up and down but it’s just not sitting properly

hey question the left rear window on my 2016 kia optima stopped working and if i go over a bump it falls down little by little and i have to manually slide it back up with my hand. is it the drum gear that is broken in this case?

Been watching your videos and got the gears from your website. going to try this on my 2016 Kia Optima soon. Have a few questions if its ok. How far do you drop down the window before putting the glass suction cup on to hold it? does the wires to the gear needs to be twisted before putting the gear back in? Is the reason the wire comes off the pulley in the back is because when you remove the wires from the gear it releases the tension? If so, if you had someone hold the wires taught, could avoid having the pain of trying to get it back on the pulley? Thank you. Great videos.

1/2 way up will be great, The wires on the gear should each be wrapped with 2 winds on each side of ther spool. No, no one can hold the wires taught to get that back on. You will need to wrap the wires on the spool, reinsert the spool making sure the wires are correct on the other side, Put the motor on to keep the spool taut, and get the cable back over one of the pulleys on the other side. This is a very difficult job. Good Luck.

How can I test to see what needs to be replaced? The rear drivers side window doesn’t roll up or down (won’t even stay up, it’s taped right now), I don’t hear the motor trying to go either. Do I need to replace the motor and regulator? Are they sold together or separately? Thanks!

All you need to replace is the GEAR/SPOOL inside the regulator. Thats the problem on 2016-2021. You might not be able to do this yourself. Come on down to Florida, We charge $280 plus tax for one window.

These kia's are garbage. My brother bought a 2009 model and had it for 10 years and never had to do anything except general maintenance. So with that glowing review, my wife bought a 2016 and it's just been issue after issue. At this point it has had both the engine and the transmission replaced on warranty. They weren't going to replace the transmission at first, but they said they actually couldn't get it to work with the new engine. Multiple issues with the seat motors almost from day 1. The radio went out for a while, and just when I was about to replace it with an aftermarket unit, it started working again. She has gone through countless headlights, low and high, both sides. One time it burned the wiring harness and we had to take the front clip off to replace it all. And now, the left rear window just started falling down. In 8 years, I bet I can count the amount of times we've put that window down on one hand. I have a 2011 Dodge Avenger Mainstreet that I've had since new. I haven't put a fraction of the amount of money in my car that we have this thing. Kia is shit.
