I'm not that far apart from You. I started the 7th grade in 1975. That is the school year I purchased the band Parliament's "Mothership Connection." It was my very first vinyl purchase. I still have that album.

I've known of the artist "D.C. LaRue since hearing the track: "Do You Want the Real Thing" from the movie soundtrack "Thank God It's Friday" I bought the vinyl album (still have it) about one year after the movie came out; of which was circa 1978. But today, Sunday, August 18, 2024, during the earliest hours of the morning, I hear this track for the 1st time ever on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. After arriving home from a night out & parking my car in the driveway, I opened up theTube and locked this track in !!

Fine disco effort here, 77. Sense of mystery in intro. So dramatic reading by DC LaRue. Good disco mix on this extended version. Danceable too. Great effort. Try 3 syllables for your Cathedrals. Thanks, DC LaRue (David H.). Always memorable. Vive les disco freaks ...

The production of the original is classic late '70s disco. Unfortunately the lead vocal is weak and a re-mix does nothing to hide that fact. I may be wrong but I think the bass line was used or sampled in other records. My best guesses are "Boogie Nights" (Heatwave) and maybe "Got My Mind Made Up" (Instant Funk?). One of the reasons this record was popular in gay dance clubs was because the title was supposedly referring to the fact that many of us came from smaller towns and rural areas (that rejected us) and once we were in the big cities it was mind-blowing to see how many of us there were (we could fill Cathedrals!) That was the word on the street about this record but I have no idea if that's what the artist intended. I am more fond of this one for its interesting title and lyrics than the record itself. (Bit of unrelated music trivia: Joan Osborne did a track called "Cathedrals" after she did "One of Us". Check it out, it's cool. It should've been a hit just like "One of Us" was.)

Mega hit de 76 mais cette intro d'une trente n'apporte rien...... (vu que c'est la basse qui faisait tout à l'époque)
