I had to get Tiger out of the way first. This man will never actually be in the hall of fame, but he's arguably the most colorful personality to ever play the game.

I,was at the 1980 playoff game when he gave Scotty Bowman a 2 handed Love Tap upside of Bowman's noggin and put a stop to his Yapping for little while, I,had a perfect view of it as .y seat was just up a few rows from The Buffalo Bench. He tried to say it was an accident. And my men's league team wore those for our jerseys for several seasons down here in Arizona, as Canucks Equipment Manager Ken "Doc" Fleger's sons were my friends and teammates. I,still have my pants and Jersey and I, also have jacket with the original Canucks Logo. Another Great Video Shannon, and Tiger was a Super Nice Guy. And a very Funny person.

I saw Tiger Williams in Sacramento back in the 90’s as coach of the Vancouver VooDoo in Roller Hockey International. Believe it or not, he ended up in the stands at one point in a scuffle with fans (I think they threw something at him after he was ejected after a bench brawl), and he ended up in the jail cell within Arco Arena. Can’t remember if he got charged with something. I miss the RHI.

As a Leafs fan I'll always love and respect Tiger Williams. That line of Williams - Sittler - McDonald was tremendous.

+The Hockey Guy - I agree with your standard of induction. I think Tiger Williams would be a fine addition to the Hall of Fame. Not sure if you saw my other picks, but they are as follows (in no particular order): Curtis Joseph Mike Vernon Tom Barrasso Mike Richter Claude Lemieux Brad McCrimmon Jason Arnott Wendel Clark Chris Osgood Dallas Smith Ron Hextall Rod Brind'Amour Vincent Damphousse John Vanbeisbrouck BTW, I'm looking forward to your revisit with the 2011 Boston Bruins. Timmy Thomas' brilliant goaltending, Michael Ryder's series saving glove save on Plekanec, and Krejci's clutch playoff performance!

lots (all) of borderline players in your list....I always try to keep in mind that the HOF is for great, not pretty good....McCrimmon played a long time with not so great numbers...Brind'Amour also had a long career with decent numbers - he, to me, is the quintessential borderline player...Hextall - not even close....Claude Lemieux's number don't support his entry into the HOF.

+Jonathan Rush - The whole point of this series is to discuss players who likely don't have a chance in making it and discussing why they "should" or "could." Of course these guys aren't legendary. They're all borderline/no chance but that's the whole point of his series lol.
@DickPoleman

the point that I am making is that players should be great to be in any HOF...not pretty good, or famous, or a fan favorite, but great. I responded using a direct from THG...he has his opinion and I have mine. I would agree that Tiger has no shot at the HOF, but if he has no chance why discuss why he should or could make it....seems to me that those two lines of discussion are mutually exclusive.
@mb30goat47
@mb30goat47 6 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan Rush - They're not mutually exclusive if there is a semblance of an argument for a guy who is borderline to make it in to the HOF. It's also just called having a fun discussion and making an argument (as futile as it might be) for a guy you may have liked or felt was underrated.

Being a kid in the 80's and an Oilers fan, I literally never noticed Tiger Williams when the Oilers played Vancouver back then. I am assuming that was because Tiger knew if he ever got out of had against Edmonton, Dave Semenko would have laid the beat down on him. So Tiger kept his nose clean in those days against Edmonton.

The Canucks were a terrible team. You wouldn't have noticed any of them when they played each other. Tiger never backed down though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipKro51sm62naM0

Tiger should at least be inducted as a builder, because his style of play, helped form the NHL that we have today. Yes, other NHL fighters could be inducted to - say the top 5 all time penalty minute leaders - Tiger, Dale Hunter, Tie Domi, Marty McSorley and Bob Probert, but induct them when they are either no longer with us or old and grey, one by one, little by little, every one of those years adding one to the HoF. One thing about Tiger is that he has no children to accept any HoF induction for him after he is gone. So maybe sooner better than later, in his case? Does Dale Hunter have kids? I know the other 3 have kids, with Probert gone, that is no problem for him. At the same time, I also feel a player like Sean Avery should be inducted as a builder because of what he did also helped form the NHL that we have today.

"it's about inducting a guy 'cause he is one of the most famous hockey players who ever played the game"......wait, wait, wait.....Tiger Williams in the hockey HOF?.....are you pulling my leg?...is it April 1st?...look, I get it, he was on your Canucks team when you were young and just started following hockey...he made an impression...he was, as you say "capable", but capable and famous are probably two of the worst attributes to have if describing a HOF candidate. And to promote Williams and express doubt about Bill Barber's induction in the HOF sounds like....well, think about that.

Jonathan Rush this is THG's HOF. Not suggesting him for the actual HOF. This is the first of a series about players who won't make the actual HOF but Shannon thinks are worth remembering. (Apologies if i misspelled your name Shannon).
@DickPoleman
@DickPoleman 6 жыл бұрын
that's a fair point...my case would be more along the lines of the difference between a player who is worthy of HOF consideration and one who was a fan favorite or made an impression....what criteria does one use for their own Hall?...it is THG's Hall and it's his channel, so he can do what he wants, but I would submit that Williams is a weak choice for any Hall. Now, if the title would have been "players who were memorable but not HOF worthy"...now I would say have it at.

Tiger is one of the most famous men to ever play the game. He also put up decent numbers. I know he'll never be in the real hall. That's why I am starting this series for the players who I know will never make it.

The Hockey Guy got to disagree here on this one. I'm 28 an hes way before my time an isn't very famous to my generation that's forsure. Also he didnt put up decent numbers. He had one average year in 80-81. So so many better players deserving who are way more as you say famous! Lol could be a homer player pick haha

@@christopher3952 Tiger Williams is a famous player. He might not be as famous as THG states in this video but your complete dismissal of Williams as "isn't very famous to my generation" speaks more to your own ignorance of hockey.

Don't get me wrong - I love your videos but I could have wagered you were going to choose Tiger Williams but this guy is Hockey's biggest loser. A person that makes his career off injuring others, cheating and fighting shouldn't deserve recognition of any kind. In no other sport, would anyone get glory for compiling a lengthy rap sheet. At some point, when you're on a team, working your ass of, trying to get somewhere and someone is constantly pulling the crap he pulled, it gets old real fast and you start to realize that not only does that player lack any actual talent and work ethic but they have serious issues for bringing that stuff onto a playing field. I know this is just for kicks, but in any working environment a guy like that is a douche. And, you will be inducting Ron Hextall.

Scotland1908 Agreed.. This Canuck fan loved hearing about Tiger Williams. Listening to the Canucks on the radio... Hearing his fights listening to Stockhouse and Shorty describe him as his road his hockey stick after scoring. I even remember him clearing the puck so high that he hit the score board at center ice. He deserves to be in thr HHOF
