There's music that makes you feel like drinking and dancing to escape the noises of real life. And there's music that helps you to escape even if you're lying in your bed, sober, when you listen to it.

I'm in love with those opening thoughts on dance music and what it means to just forget and dance.

He is the voice of our generation.HE should be famous,but I guess that's what makes him so great,that his music is better listened because it's not mainstream

What is the first part of the song? That synth line... I can't find it anywhere. Anybody know? Or is it just the live version?

Nicolas Jaar - Wouh

he really contradicts himself in the beginning. Nico notes that dance music was a form of escapism for maligned groups but then also says he doesn't want to make music to get drunk and dance to. Isn't that mainly the form of escapism that dance music provides?
@benjiarias95997 жыл бұрын
Agreed! He just should stay out of any speech like this and only make the great music he does. Lol.
@dimonai018 жыл бұрын
or maybe dancing is fun and feels good? people have been dancing since the beginning of time homie
@matthewthechalk8 жыл бұрын
He touches on that though. He says its fun to go out and get drunk and dance to music, however its not something he'd dedicate his life too.
@dimonai018 жыл бұрын
Matthew Chalk yes but he's insinuating that dance music arose from oppression in the latin, gay, and w/e else communities. which is not true. not even close. those communities may have popularized certain genres like house music but people have been dancing since the beginning of time.

You contradicted yourself several times. Yes people have been dancing since the beginning of time, I think that much is obvious. Jaar isn't saying that "dance music" (which I interpret to be "electronic dance music") caused people to dance... You even said yourself that those communities (gay and latino's etc) popularized dance music because of the issues they faced in society.
