The coolest thing about this whole showcase is, there are ZERO loading screens, not for entering the housing area, not when entering the house. This is why I love WoW classic so much, almost no loading screens. Now you can be questing or farming mobs in the background and see this place, and see someone busy on their lot. Super cool.

They got called "illegal tree farms" and hunting them down or hiding your own was some good shit. Friends and I would set alarms so we'd be there when the trees matured, you'd usually see the owner of the trees there and make them watch as you harvest 😂

yeah, artists could make paints/statues that could give certain bonus when placed in your stronghold. Like monsters trophys works in other games, you buy some statue of a globin that some artist build and suddlen you understand more about globins, that could give you a certain bonus when figthing globins or maybe giving acess to areas/quest realated to that piece of art. And the artist himself should be am specialist in that creature killing hundreds of than looking for a rare drop necessarie for his art or gathering lore itens from those monster to increase your affnity whit that certain tipy of mob/npc/area. Imagine being am artist specialized in painting a certain rare spawn dragon, because you are one of the fewwer professional artists that have slayed that certain dragon multiples times and now your paint give lore hints about places where theres dragons spawn or giving acess to a brand new quest realated with that mob, that only players that own a paiting can access.

In Archage you had protection on your specific plot of land, you could grow things(trees) outside of your area but people could harvest them. Which is why people would go way out in the middle of nowhere to plant stuff

Free holds this month, sounds like nodes and crafting the next two months after that. I'd be willing to bet spot testing will be starting soon after. The only thing really needing to be done at that point is optimization before Alpha 2 and the removal of the NDA. Hopefully Alpha 2 sometime before the end of the year

Learn blacksmithing to get the weapons needed to beat the boss ect. All 100 floors of aincrad. And then ide like a fps GGO game with the city and gun range and tournaments like battle royals that people could watch on screens in bars in the game and gun shops. Maybe no monsters just a giant open world ffa where the city is a safe place. I'm a huge SAO fan but not so much the alicization arc. The new aincrad movies through Asunas perspective is cool. Would be awesome if they made a 300 episode series of the entire aincrad experience with more in depth details. No skips. 😊

One major possibly that I think the freeholds present is the ability to for players to create their own mini-worlds inside the game. I could fully see somebody building a more castle-like freehold as it's own explorable area, just somewhere out in the wilderness. Sort of like a mini dungeon, with the chest system being utilized for some sort of loot (crafted items? reousrces? etc). There are really just so many ways these plots of land could be put to use

Pigs could behave as resource multipliers - feed them corn and other scrap resources, and over time they mature into adult hogs, then you kill them and get compound interest stored in the pork of the resources you fed them.

Would be cooler if some plots were better positioned for different processing pipelines. They already have tetris inventory, they could do tetris processing pieces to set up a factorio looking thing. Plug this piece into here and now the leather you make from hide is more durable, whatever. Basically, a reason to get mutiple houses, or a reason to visit guildmates' houses. I think it's going to encourage specialization. People will be likely to end up being farmers, other people adventurers, other people businessmen. Could be one of the first MMORPGS that has a society with specialization of skills. As opposed to, everyone is an adventurer and they are able to be max skilled in professions.

lol It's fun just taking a break from killing stuff and just focusing on crafting and gathering stuff on your farm. Archeage did this pretty well. I also imagine the tools you use will matter, so you'd either gather faster, gathering will yield more mats, etc. Also, you absolutely don't have to farm at all, but you could focus on hunting, killing stuff in general, crafting, etc. Nobody's forcing you to do anything, and you're free to choose what you want to focus on. The reason Lost Ark felt like work has nothing to do with this.

the sheep thing is kind of easy to do, you just have a fur shader or a fur material on a hair card mesh that either disappears or in the case of a shader you can have a flat mesh that causes the fur go from flat to fluffy with a slider

It's a PvX game, where PvE and PvP are intertwined mechanically to bring about creation and destruction in the world. The PvE players will create, and the PvP players will destroy shit to keep the game loop going and create change (though both will have to participate in both aspects to some degree eventually). Steven wants to create a system where different aspects of the playerbase feed off of each other. There isn't going to be aspects of the game that are completely isolated from each other.
