For some reason the E36 is really starting to climb up in price. You've got it right though. It's not even remotely fast. More "adequately torquey". But it is impossible to not have a grin on your face from driving one.

The most capable M car, nothing comes close (for price/performance), Nordschleife BTG times proofs this. Strongest aftermarket support. Cheapest consumables (tires, brake pads, etc.) Insane amount of DIY's and community knowledge. The only problem is time, e36 are becoming classic and prices are climbing.

I have a ‘92 e36 325i black/black w/ flawless paint (even at 200k) . I’ve put on black powder coated contours, fresh emblems all around / removed the old purple tint and it’s been fully serviced and is in great shape mechanically/ cosmetically. I bought it as a weekend / project car but when I bring it out I literally get a thumbs up anywhere I go and it’s a blast to drive even as a non- M the old school bimmers are just amazing. I’ve had 3 different modded vehicles and this one is my favorite by far. Oh and I bought it bone stock from original owner for 2k, 6 months ago. Yes $2,000. They are out there you just have to look!! What do you guys think? As a kid, my parents had a very beautiful Madeira Violet E36 320i convertible with an M-pack. I LOVED it! Ever since then, it has been my dream to own a E36 M3 convertible. I've actually always delayed getting one even though I've been checking the market for about 8 years now. In the meantime, I bought another dream car of mine instead, the Skyline R32 GTR. I've rebuilt the engine and it pushes 583hp. While I really love it and it's a crazy, unique machine, I'm actually not enjoying it as much as I thought I would. I ran against so many issues since I owned it, it has cost me way more money than I would have wanted and it doesn't feel like it was worth it. But I'm really torn between keeping the R32 or selling it and chase my other dream to find a mint condition E36 M3 convertible. On some days I'm really convinced I will do it and on other days I fear that I might miss the R32 and that it would be a mistake. What do you guys think? Would it be crazy to sell my R32 GTR to get an E36 M3? Why I want an E36 convertible: - The nostalgia from when I was a kid - I actually prefer to cruise around with my car, enjoy the weather and the scenery compared to go out to drive flatout. - I know my wife would enjoy it as well and she would like to go on trips together. (She doesn't like the R32 at all :p ) - ...

I LOVE LOVE my car. I've a 1998 Estoril Blue M3 E36 Vert w black interior. I'm about 1.5 hrs away from the "tail of the dragon" and I've made some mods that straight up hurt feelings on those mountain runs, much less how humiliating it still is down here in TN/NC to lose to a chick. I've had Audi turbo, Porsche, Dinan M5 blown and a Dinan M3 sedan blown (was too stupid fast traded for the vert.) I LOVE my M3's. My vert is dropped with Bilstein coil over, comforti chip, CAI, 18" SSR's staggered & a ripping Stromung chrome exhaust....people are looking around the corner when this car rolls because you know its something hot howling in! I got the carbon fiber crossmembers to help with the little different handling that comes w the vert but holy smokes....sooo fun! Perfect for these Tennessee alpine roads.....holds into good curves at a hundy & doesn't even hint at a slip.....I've never felt that solid in my other cars. Anyhoo..really enjoyed and agree 100%.

I recently purchased a E36/8 Coupe (The Shoe) & I could never see myself selling this car. The canyon runs & overall driving experience is second to none. You would have to offer me 70K cash to even get me thinking about selling it because I would miss it too damn much. Insurance and horsepower might be too much BUT if you to get something like like a 325/328 it can save you a lot of money but still be very fun and good to work on/ upgrade. My first bmw was a 328i its got over 230k miles now its still my daily. I have an e36 m3 as well they are really similar in a good way.
@k0edby222 жыл бұрын
I would say no, not a good first car to buy. Firstly, they are expensive to buy and can be expensive service (Rtab bushings, parts etc), secondly you are inexperienced driver and will likely total the car because you don’t know how to control it. And if you crash it, that’s 1 less e36 m3 on the market and prices will continue to go up and all the money you spent will be for nothing.

The car in my opinion drives much better with the pure800. Stock turbo is extremely punchy. I like have more spool up top and less initial bite. The power is useable, don’t get me wrong.
