These oatmeal cookies are designed to stay thick and chewy. I use oatmeal, raisins, walnuts, and Butter Flavored Crisco Shortening. Making cookies is easy. All you have to do is combine the ingredient, scoop the cookie dough onto a cookie sheet, and bake. Watch how easy this is...
Hi... I'm Steve. My specialty is no-knead bread. I have recently introduced the “Turbo” method (ready to bake in 2-1/2 hours) and “hands-free” technique for making no-knead bread.
Thanks - Steve

I like to use melted butter and mix the egg sugar and vanilla together first and then when preparing the dry ingredients I add the oats and flour together and then add all to the wet ingredients. And then add whatever extra raisin or nuts you might want after that. It's just so much easier and quicker to do this way. Looks like a good recipe regardless, thanks for sharing.

just made these - very good! Sweet so a little goes a long way! I didn't have walnuts on hand, added 3/4 c of choc chips, only used 2-1/2 c of oats - otherwise followed as given...but made mine smaller so ended up with 24 large cookies. Thanks, Steve. I make your no knead bread a few times a week - having tonight with chili...so I don't mind too much being snowed in!

2021-03-21 💗 🍞🥖Steve Gamelin taught me to bake my own bread. I have been making them for almost three years, I mix with dried garlic powder, all kinds of dried herbs, curry, nuts, seeds etc. but also, cinnamon, honey or with extra sugar then you get sugar bread :-) No one makes bread so fast, simpel and much easier as 'Steve from no knead bread'. I thank you a lot Steve😃 Much loaf love from the Netherlan

I made these tonight and they are the Best Chewy Oatmeals Cookies I've ever made! Instead of 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, I used 1 tsp. Cinnamon. They came out perfect & yummy. I also made a fluffy vanilla icing filling and made a few of them like sandwich cookies. Thank you Steve for sharing your recipes and I love your videos, especially baking No-Knead Artisan Bread! Have learned so much from your videos. You are my Go-to guy for baking! Only wish I'd found you sooner. I could watch you bake all day, you make it easier to understand, it's so much fun, plus the bake goods are a delicious bonus!

I'm so thankful to have found your channel for bread baking! I was happily surprised to find this cookie recipe on your channel, also! I've just made my second batch of these. They are enormous, chewy, thick and delicious. I will be baking these weekly for breakfast cookies, which may be a bit hardier than just a bowl of oatmeal, but flavor is necessary when creating food dishes that little ones will eat, and in this case, devour! With the few ingredients, these are better than the breakfast bars that you buy in the store :-) Have a blessed day!

Made these cookies. esp. for their high oatmeal content, but with 2 slight modifications plus one addition to the recipe: As I don't care for raisins (at least in food--except raisin bran), I substituted 1 cup of chocolate chips. I also don't care for walnuts, so I substituted another cup of chocolate chips (though almonds could be good). And then for good measure, threw in another cup of chocolate chips. HEAVENLY!

I am a bit of a junk food junkie/cookieholic and a week ago I was in a grocery store where I spotted a cookie I had not seen before, in the in-store (I think) bakery. It was called a Royal Cookie, but looked like an oatmeal raisin cookie. I wasn't so sure that I would buy them, though, as the cookies were priced about DOUBLE what this store charged for every other bakery cookie. To make matters worse, I didn't realize that the cookies were thicker than usual...so basically, I paid nearly 4 TIMES the price for the Royal Cookies as I would have for "regular" oatmeal cookies. HOWEVER, one bite and I didn't feel so bad, and started to think that these really were royal cookies. They were oatmeal cookies with coconut (or at least coconut flavoring), macadamia nuts, and chocolate chunks. I will try to find them again this week when I go back to that store.

👍. Butter Flav Cisco is the best oatmeal and chocolate chip cookie recipe. But I run the 1/2 the oatmeal in my food processor. I also use the oatmeal flour for extra special chocolate chip cookies for gifts or holidays. I like to drizzle melted white and chocolate chips over 1/2 of the cookies. I don’t add raisins, kids don’t like them and walnuts r hard for seniors to eat. 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍩
