IMO the actual issue is that angel and devil deals both stem from the same way of play, and devil deals simply play MORE into this than angel deals do: Don't take red heart damage. Just so happens that when you sell off your red hearts in a devil deal, it becomes easier to not take red heart damage, and thus devil deals have always been more consistent. If they changed it so angel deals were, perhaps, "dont take soul heart damage", all of a sudden you could actually play with red HP and *enjoy it*

I agree with this 100%. I also think that 99% of Isaac players take the first good devil deal they see rather than roll the odds and then get a real shit angel item. Or even worse than that, an even shittier devil deal. I honestly just wish angel rooms spawned with a bit more frequency or at the very least offered something on par with the devil deal you just skipped.

Hey Sin, if you skip item rooms you have a chance to get a new special room called planetarium. It's kinda like you have to pass on devil deals to get angel rooms. I don't really know if its really worth it, but here you go!

I really don't think streaking should be counted by going through the alternate floors. It's not like the criteria for streaking was beating Mega Satan every run. So I don't think it would be fair to have to go to the alternate paths every run. The final boss of the alternate paths is really difficult to beat so most runs wouldn't be able to do it. Therefore you don't have to take the alternate paths for the run to count towards your streak.

In rebirth there was always the faintest hope to turn a run around through shop/devil deals/blue fires, etc. In repentance if you get behind I honestly feel like it is more or less hopeless, unless you get a hard carry. It's only been a couple of days, so of course I'll give it more time, but I'm a bit turned off by the direction they took.

Fun Fact: Technology 2 got buffed in Repentance. It no longer reduces your damage, but instead your tear rate. Not like that matter since the laser’s doing all the work.

Cause you could argue this guy plays this game for a living. He has fun being a master at it and then all your favorite items get nerfed (and nerfed bad). He even says hey I like winning. The dlc has a lot to add, cool new items and synergies, hey are just really really hard to unlock. It's jarring at first. Everyone said similar things about AB+. Tear Drop Charm increases the chance for tear effects to happen. In your Jacob/Esau run you picked it up with holy light and it almost always activated due to your multishot

Day two of questioning repentance. Today: lack of soul hearts spawning. Besides making the game harder and arguably anti player the change seems to make several characters which rely on soul hearts unplayable.

Normal mode is still there if you want it, it's not as if hard mode before Repentance was much harder than normal mode. No shame in stepping the difficulty down at least for a little while.

@@akuro6470 But the problem is, you need to play on hard mode to fill in the completion marks. If you ever want to 1001% the game, you NEED to hard mode blue baby/jacob and esau. Nerfing blue fires/skulls to drop less hearts was a terrible change, because you were not guaranteed to get a soul/black heart even if you bombed every fire you saw. Now there is basically no point in bombing them because the chances are so low compared how rare they spawn.

So first up, i do not play Isaac myself, i just watch it. I just do not want to invest the hundreds of hours to get to a decent enough skill level. Personally i really felt like the whole "Shop Meta" was really boring to watch. Like so often we would get the usual suspects of Jera, Blank Card, Restock, IV Bag etc. . So many runs just went into the direction of having almost every good item in the game due to breaking the game via Restock and chaos with pretty often infinite moneysupply as well.

Sharp key is really decent. You could've opened those two golden chests with one of you threw it from the side and it acts like Dad's key and can get you into anything except for Megan Satan. Including the corpse door that you need the knife pieces for and I think the mausoleum and mine doors

I’m a console player, so the dlc won’t be out for me for a while anyways but I feel as if some of the changes make Isaac feel like a completely different game. And like I wouldn’t really take the alternative paths too often because they seem super op. Maybe I just need to warm up to it some more. I of course appreciate all the devs hard work and passion they clearly put into this project (especially the new lore) , but I can’t say for sure if I would get the new dlc when it comes out for me or not. Definitely appreciate all of Sins hard work and putting the new content out for us to learn along with him!
