My cat Wayne was like that. He couldn't stand up straight, wobbling all over. I took him to our regular vet office, but they were short staffed and didn't have a doctor in the office. I took him to a different vet and the receptionist checked and even though appointments were booked solid, they agreed to squeeze him in as an emergency. Thank the Goddess it was an ear infection and not something worse. He finished his course of antibiotics, and it cleared up. Oddly enough, it's been over a year but he still has a bit of a head tilt. It's become part of his charm.

Good to know about all the different ear issues dogs can have. I too have a cavalier and they are prone to ear infections. But I've never seen this mucus sort of thing.

Vertigo is no joke. I have Mineres Disease which causes me to have vertigo. I have had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Few things are sweeter than a dog finding relief after a health issue and being comfortable enough to snooze. One time our pug had an allergic reaction. They gave her a shot to calm it down and she got so relaxed she peed all over me in her sleep 😂

Wow I've been dealing with my equilibrium being off mayb a bit of vertigo. Its a scary feeling... Just had 2 teeth extracted one being my eye tooth. Not sure if infection or antibiotics is what triggered it?Was 3 days after procedure that my left ear felt lil sore. So next 3 days was feeling woozie & nausea everytime I flipped over was very scary feeling. But then last 24 hours was doing very well dizzy spells stopped. Then 2nite took massager 2 my neck & shoulder bc was very sore (bc I deal with fibromyalgia) then swithed 2 left side. When I hit left side of my neck got very dizzy again. So not sure if its my neck, ear, meds or tooth mayb a combo of all? Never dealt with this b4 don't think its tumor & leaning 2wards neck & meds & infection...I 🙏

What kind of effects would having that puncture in the eardrum have on his hearing? Is that something he can recover from on his own? Also, does this sort of condition require regular draining or is this more of an acute thing that doesn't have an ongoing mechanism?

The sort of small puncture they'd have to make in the eardrum here will probably heal up over time, perhaps leave behind a small defect. It's usually only major ruptures that can cause permanent hearing loss, from what I've heard.
