Thiel Burn Deck - June 2024 (Replays + Decklist)

Horus Heresy Legions Ranked gameplay featuring Aeonid Thiel from the Ultramarines.
In more recent times the Ultramarines have mostly been known for their incredibly fun and complex Mission, which resulted in a lot of well thought out and diverse troop spam decks that aimed at getting mission done as soon as possible. BUT you don't need to play like that if you don't want to!
This deck is a burn deck, similar to the old Remus deck I have on the channel. It aims at dealing as much damage to the enemy warlord as possible, as quickly as possible. We are using Thiel for this because he has the best overall synergy with the burn archetype alongside Remus, by making cards like Logos cost 1E. Because of this and the ability to generate more copies of Logos we are not running any Astartes that costs below 4E, because a Logos on T1 now can result in a medium or big astartes being played a turn early, which would be wasted if it drew a Helixus Squad for example.
This is definitely a refreshing change from the usual UM decks and works pretty well in Low Terra.

Thiel alongside Ventanus are underrated Ultramarine warlords. While the former have practical as his voiceline he uses Theoreticals and the latter "theoretical you surrender" generates and uses practicals.

the deck is primarily a burn deck, so focus is on dealing lots of damage, primarily with tactics, as fast as possible. Mission doesn't suit this playstyle as it supports more of a troop spam or midrange deck. generally I don't think Thiel should ever be using Mission, because he simply is the worst kind of troop spam warlord for the UM, burn/aggro suits him better just like Remus

Not really bad. But you did some mistakes in deck building - no sieges, no mass stuns for more efficient use of sieges. Next, you use 4/5 legendary which is BAD. It's probably worst card in every game, cuz it shits your hand with weak troops. Thiel never runs out of cards, so it's have no use. Next, you have in deck theories like 1e draw a troop. It's just waste of place, you usually generate it from ability. Next, no apothecaries. Next, 3e chaos legendary. Same shit as with 4/5 UM leggie. Next, 9e dread. Useless. Also i advice to use crucial choice, it does pretty well with Thiel.
