I haven't heard such a beautiful combination of flute and violin like this. I am 65 years and i use to hear carnatic for the past 50 years. I enjoyed lalgudi's violin as well ramani's so many times on December and at thiruvaiyaru respectively. But this is the first duo i thoroughly enjoyed the masters'. Of course the thilang was dancing like anything with full joy of it's masters. Thanks a lot for the upload.

It is LGJ's Thillana in Tilang, which is a close cousin of jog. Led to this after I was sufficiently inrigued by Pramathavanam Vendum, which is in raag jog. What a delightful composition this is

What a beautiful composition. There is something in the way Lalgudi's thillanas are constructed. It is like the sangatis are a flow of emotions each one slightly nuanced than the previous, and they all lead you slowly to a point of bliss, before concluding. Add to this the dancing nature of the swaras. His thillanas just make you jump out the chair and shake a leg, in some sense. This particular piece from 5:15 - 6:40 is just scintillating. There seems to be some form western music style harmonic tones attempted. (Not an expert, but it just sounded very Bach-ian.)

Heard this first time in an AIR program - Lalgudi J and his sister Srimathi in around 1960s. Probably first of the thillanas composed by Lalgudi.

Very beautiful thillaana by Lalgudiji. I may be excused to say that this thillaana sounds more of raag VARAMU (Chatusruti deivatham in Hindolam- Thunai purindarul by PSivan) than Thilang. I will be happy if stalwarts clear my doubt.

No it's typical thillang. S G3 M1 P N3 S , S N2 P M1 G3 S. it's a bhashanga raga . You can use N3 only when You go to the higher note . And use N2 when you go to the lower note.
