Thin Lizzy will always be my favourite band. There is no better all-round rock drummer than Brian Downey. The band probably covered a wider range of genres in their recordings than any of their contemporaries, from psychedelic folk in the beginning, through country tinged ballads (Metallica recently covered Borderline), hard-edged funk, melodic pop-rock, to heavy metal on their final album.

SO glad you played this fantastic song. Thank you. I think you can see what I said about Brian Downey the drummer. And Scott Gorman the guitarist, as you saw has "Rock Attitude". Add Phil Lynott and (I think),Brian Robertson, and the result is this masterpiece.The album Bad Reputation is also great.

Best band ever. You're in for a ride. Between 1975 and 1979 they were just untouchable. Fighting (75), Jailbreak (76), Johnny The Fox (76), Bad Reputatuon (77), Live and Dangerous (78) and Black Rose (1979) is just an incredible run. And then there are the other 8 albums they officially released. They're great also. Phil Lynott was one of a kind.

Ya ! Brilliant all day long !! One of the best Bands ever ! Proper regret missing out on seeing these chaps ! I agree with the veiwers of this channel ! that "Live and Dangerous " is one of the Best Live Albums period !Imo When Gary Moore joined Thin Lizzy he brought some even more special to The band ! Garys solo career was brill as well ! A great live show "One Night In Dublin " is a tribute to the great Phil Lynot with Gary Moore hosting with Scott Gorham showing up for the epic "Black Rose " lynot mixed Irish History into a lot of his writing !! A must veiw !!!Cheers ! great reaction !!

In Dublin, Phil has a statue and was able to be on postage stamps as well. Their contribution to music is amazing. Many bands pay homage to Thin Lizzy. Love it, you won’t be disappointed.

It's Brian Downey on drums for this one I think and it's from 76/77ish.. Probably Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham on Guitar. Something from a slightly later period you might like is "Roisin Dubh" with Gary Moore on Guitar but be warned you will instantly crave a Guinnes. If you fancy something from way back at the start when they where just a three piece, 71/72ish, try "Saga Of The Ageing Orphan" or "Rise And Dear Demise Of The Funky Nomadic Tribes".

Another Irish band you might want to try is Horslips. Their sound progressed as they went on but I do like the early stuff. A couple great ones are "An Brattach Ban", "Bímm Istigh Ag Ol", "Dearg Doom", "Mad Pat" or "King of the Fairies". I can't guarantee the spelling of those titles though.

Remember this album from 77 of the Same title Brian Roberton on guitar and Scott Gorahm make twin guitar playing unique. Try" The Opium Trail " Robertson was absolutely on fire they had to let him just explode on solo's. Him and Lynott were always at logger heads a d it shows in their playing .For a few years they were untouchable. Also Try "The sun goes down "

Please keep delving in to Thin Lizzy guys, they were one of the best bands ever and so tight live, each member a master of their instrument! Try 'Still in love with you' from the album Live & Dangerous (one of my all time favourites) and for another rocker try 'Emerald' thanks.

Do delve more into Thin Lizzy, they are fantastic from the days of them as a trio with Eric Bell on guitar, to Gary Moore, then the classic Scot Goram Brian Robertson as seen here, to Snowy White, even Midge Ure, then at the end John Sykes, with Scot Goram being a constant from 74 until the end. You are right Brian Downey is a wonderful drummer & Phil Lynott is the ultimate front man. You have covered a lot of music by The Jam, well in 1975 The Jam actually supported Thin Lizzy at The Fulham Greyhound. That would have been a great gig to see!

If memory serves, Brian Robertson, (Stratocaster player), injured his hand severely in a bar fight, and Scott Gorham did all of the leads on this album during recording. In your spare time, check out "Live and Dangerous" to hear these guys at their best, with a healthy Brian Robertson. Thanks for keeping the memories alive! 🤘 Edit: I believe Brian's lead part may have been done for "Opium Trail" before the fight.
@delorangeade
@delorangeade Жыл бұрын
Brian did the leads on Opium Trail. Killer Without a Cause and That Woman's Gonna Break Your Heart. This was after the bar fight, his subsequent dismissal, and the band's tour with Queen. I believe Brian May had suggested himself for the second guitar spot on the album before Robertson came back, late in the sessions.

Oh, you gotta check out their other works. They have several albums worth of greatness. They were one of those bands that American audiences did not hear much about due to personal and other problems within the band. But they were huge stars around the world back in the day. You will love their music. You need to check more out. This band is right up there with Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, Queen, the biggest bands of their era.
