What a sadness this song expresses. He knows the addiction has him and is resigned to his fate. He's rationalised it away by singing everyone dies anyway. Imagine singing my situation is hopeless in front of tens of thousands of people night after night and no one with a clue what you're on about. He comes and goes comes and goes...desperate days. Jesus!

How can this be 40 years ago? The wonderful and amazing Thin Lizzy doing what they always did best.

John's solo guitar attitude is a new quality, new chapter in such a vast guitar history of Lizzy, great names - Eric Bell, Scott, Gary Moore, Brian Robertson, Snowy White

One of my very favourite Lizzy songs and this is the best version of it I've seen or heard. Jeez the emotion and power in Phil's performance. Absolutely spine tingling. Two great solos too.

There is nothing I wouldn't do to be back with her. I threw my dream away of being with the sweetest person ever. Please see that my redemption is in my control and I'll ensure I attain it. What a lucky audience, beholding true musicianship in all its forms. Apex example of the art form right here.

5:10 Phil is shedding a tear while playing bass and singing at the same time. Those artists capable of expressing and transmitting true emotions on stage and having an amazing performance are the ones I want to see.

I always consider and considered the top 3 big hard rock bands. Sabbath. Zeppelin, Purple. But Thin Lizzy has a special place for me and they could be in the top three!

I’ve worked out what it is. Scott’s solo moves around as it wants but stays with Brian and Phil’s beat. John’s is on its own and has a more crying, wailing attitude. Scott is the rhythm soloist, John is the soloist soloist.

Agreed. Scott grooves like a MFer on that guitar. I think Scott learned a lot from Robbo and kind of incorporated some of Robbo's style after he left
@austenj4539 Жыл бұрын
You hit the nail on the head. John Sykes is the free flowing soloist with Scott Gorham basically the rhythm man giggling around within the main groove. That's why Scott survived through so many others and it worked beautifully.
