Will Fish ever realize how deep these songs are engraved in our hearts? How we love every second of this music and every single word pronounced? How we used to fall asleep listening to his songs and play them again as soon as we woke up? The best years ever, the best songs ever. I'm 34 now and I can tell you: the present years are nothing compared to those 20 years ago. Thank you, Fish!

I’m actually sitting g here listening to this for the 100’th time, loving it as much as the first time I heard it! I’m scheduled for open heart surgery on the 10th. They caught it before I had a heart attack. So, that’s really good. But, the recovery is a long process. I’m getting a triple bypass and a new aortic valve. The doctors said that if they wouldn’t have found my congenital defect, I would have been dead in a year! So, I’m trying to look at this as a good thing! Putting together my playlist for when I’m hopefully in recovery next week. I don’t want to come out of surgery to listening to machines!

Fish's poetic, unique delivery about his breakup with then-girlfriend Kay is a such a deep, touching piece of brutally honest male self-pity that every guy can relate to in their hearts. Fish genuinely wore his heart on his sleeve and that's why his lyrics and delivery touch so deep. Both Marillion and Fish were never quite the same after he left.

Mesmerising performance from Fish there what a showman he spits out every syllable as if in extreme pain really getting into the vibe In some ways it spoils the incredible guitar work from Steve Rithery and the drums and keyboards too as for the majority of this the cameraman is focused entirely on him yet can you really blame him 😅

March 31, 2020... What happened? I first heard Marillion in the summer of 1986. A young girl introduced them to me. That young girl is long gone. That me is long gone. What happened? It becomes so painfully obvious that it was life that happened, when you watch the Fish updates on Weltschmerz. Here he was a young man with a painted face. Now an old wise man living for his tomato plants. Just like me.

Every song reaches right for my heart & reminds me that life is love. And love is why we live. "Can you still say you love me? Can you still say you love? Can you still say, That you love me? I didn't get turned on to Marillion until 2000. I was browsing and saw the artwork on cover to "The Thieving Magpie" and thought that they looked like a cool band and was curious. It didn't take long for me to get hooked. I love how this band is so talented to constantly be changing up their rhythms and melodies without missing a beat. They are not afraid to use unconventional beat numbers in their measures such as transitioning from 3 beats, to 4 beats and often using 5's and 7's which take an amazing amount of talent. The only other band that is talented enough to do that is the band Rush. Steve Rothery is one of the best guitarists I have ever listened to. His greatest strength is his ability to absolutely mesmerize an audience with his guitar solos. I would rank him right up there with Alex Lifeson from Rush. Mark Kelly is amazing on the keyboard and with his help, Marillion is probably the most melodic band ever that ever lived. The bass and the drums are so on point that they are practically dancing with each other. Last but not least is Fish. He is probably the most unique singer out there. If you judged him on singing ability alone, tone, range, control, stability, etc..., Simon Cowell would probably run him off the stage telling him he's awful. Now before you start throwing stones wait, and you will see where I'm going with this. Because there is something else that Fish brings to the table which is far "greater" than his singing alone. It is his energy and passion and masterful lyrics. He is an incredible lyricist. His lyrics are so filled with such a poetic style and imagery that he could put some of the greatest poets to shame. Fish's singing is theatrical and full of emotion and passion. When he sings he pours his very soul out the the audience with each syllable and every note. He carries such charisma and passion, that even if he misses a key, he still connects with the audience. Now if I had to compare singing ability alone, Hogarth is a far better singer than Fish. However with all the other aforementioned things that Fish brings to the table, I believe that songs such as "Script for a Jesters Tear", can only be done by Fish! It wouldn't be the same with any other singer.

I saw them in Paris after Brussels. One of the organizers I met in Brussels let me go backstage in Paris at the end of the concert where I ran straight in to Fish .. he gave me three kisses. Magical moment. Never to forget. Marillion is Fish.. fish is marillion ..never the same again. Amazing music.

I never realised how brilliant Fish was until recently, what an utterly fantastic charismatic frontman he is. Steve Hogarth has done a wonderful job to fill such vast boots,I've seen them 4 times with "H" at the helm and he never fails to deliver.

I was given my first ever stage pass to photo a major band at this gig. Having thumbed a lift to London from South Wales, it was during a period I spent out of work and was developing my own film and printing . Memories I had to sell a few of my hand printed photos outside gigs just to get say a T shirt. Fish saw to it I got a stage pass and had some of the backstage r food and beer. I won 3rd prize in the 1983 National Eisteddfod with the resulting photos from that night. Thanks Fish & band

I often feel that no one knows this song here in America but myself. It's incredibly remedial to find that this has resonated with so many other people and that I am not alone.

Such an underestimated band. Both musically and lyrically. Fish was extraordinary, his voice, his lyrics, his looks(anti-hero), the musicians were great. Songs that really get to you. Whether you're in europe or Australia. After Fish left they became just another prog rock band. Great voice but it lacks the rawness (common, struggling people).

For me, Steve's Rothery guitar solos are so trippy, he plays with such much feel and emotion. He selects each note of the solo to make it unforgettable.

A solo with Rothery strangely resembles a Pink Floyd song, it's She Cameleon on the Fugazi album, in fact the whole song.
