Great rendition of this eternal truth, glorious and full of hope, played by our trumpeter sons Youth brass band at his untimely funeral, Jesus conquered even death.

A beautiful hymn, laced with truth! Even in a difficult, painful time, He is still risen!

The tune is Judas Maccabaeus and was originally written to celebrate the defeat of the Scots. Written by G. F. Händel and these words were later put to it by Edmund Louis Budry. What a wonderful turnaround for a piece of music!!

Thank you so much for this glorious Hymn - with your music and singing - I sang with you - and found in hymn book it is from 1Cor. 15:54-55 - so caring to read.

It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth... Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. - Acts 4:10-12

Such hymns don't come recommended, you seek them out because of their beauty. Thine be the glory thou risen Jesus Christ...

Händel's melody is a connecting element across national borders. Here as an Easter song, in Germany as a Christmas song.

This is not a funeral hymn, but I suppose that’s your choice… this is a hymn for the risen Christ- but if taken metaphorically may apply poetically, ironically enough.

@@rhodiusscrolls3080 Not at all. Alluding to its composition by Handel, used in his oratorio Judas Maccabaeus. One of the things Hanukkah celebrates is the Maccabean victory.

@@Tubatoofpaste Ah I see what you mean now. Forgive my impetuous dismissal. There is another problem however with this music if you happen to be Scottish. It was written to celebrate the memory of English genocide among the Scots..to the evocation of Cumberland the Butcher who was hailed by one side as a new Maccabeus. Politics and religion and music dont really mix around such memories but good that we made an Easter hymn of it, Nuff said.
