Battery IS not for amplification but just to make it work properly. An electret microphone needs alimentation to work. A caméra does not supply alimentation on the jack, so you need a battery for it to work. A smartphone send alimentation to the mic, so it does not need battery.. Look at "électret microphone" on Google image to understand.

Condenser microphones need a small amount of voltage to work. The phone can provide this voltage, so it won't need a battery to work on a smartphone. But a camera doesn't provide a voltage potential, so you need the battery. There is a FET transistor in the microphone it's self.

DUDEEEE! The battery is for powering the electret condenser microphone properly as I can see some SMD resistor and a capacitor sown there on the circuit board. A camera does not supply any voltage towards the electret condenser. The electret condenser needs proper voltage and power to pick up audio nicely. There is no amplification going on and neither the manufacturer claimed that they added an amplification unit. This is a microphone activator unit. THE BATTERY IS NOT GIMIK! Cheers! They did not cheat. They did on the build quality though xD

You don't have knowledge about basic electronics. Battery using for initial charge for activation of electrolytic duel coil condenser mic.

the worst buy I ever done. It work on pc for a little period them the battery ends and the mic is just useless until you find a new battery, so you need to keep spending money to have a working mic

Depends if you have one jack for both headphones and microphones or 2 seperate for each.
