At all the meet and greet events, all the competitors must have felt like they were drinking from a fire hose! Some had lines of people were extremely long. In the less formal contacts I had with the personalities I found Ben and Hunter to be the most approachable and easy going of those I spoke with. Understandably, they didn’t constantly have a spotlight on them like the main competitors. In hindsight, I don’t think Ben would volunteer to ride in the towed vehicle hooked to any wrecker Paul is driving! Paul thinks everything is demolition derby! He knows only one speed!

You might have installed the actuator rod bracket backwards. They will go on backwards, but the trans will not go all the way into park. Keep up the good work.

-- Those little Amazon heat shrink kits are a Godsend, aren't they? Tip: Instead of butt connectors (Chad would be chuckling) if you have to make a splice like that, twist and tape. It's stronger and smaller. Twist both wires together, then wrap the twisted ends in a tight circle around the splice - trim excess as needed. Solder and slide your heat shrink over and shrink. Obviously put the heat shrink on the line first thing so it's there to side onto the splice.

I gotta tell ya, I watch Matt, I watch Rory, I watch you guys, I'm pullin' for you guys in this. Partly because you and Ben have pretty much done it all on your wrecker by yourselves and done it with limited new resources. The other reason is that it's a dream you had with your dad. I'm thinkin' he'd love the shift to hydraulics, best application for the task. Rory has years of experience and modifications under his belt, not to mention a driving skillset that's exceptional, he's gonna be tough. Matt has a full team to help with the build and a budget that certainly appears to be over the top plus he does well on the rocks. He'll be tough for those reasons. You've not had those advantages, but you've got adaptability and that "can do" attitude, you ain't no slouch on the rocks either. It's gonna be fun no matter who comes out on top.

Hey guys ,love watching your posts. Just have comment on your back window install. You may have already tried this tech on installing old school rubber window trim. I have had real good luck with using a strong thin cord and dish soap or tire lube. Here’s how I do it, put window in rubber (no lock) lube the outer seal area groove with lube, place cord in that groove all the way around and leave tail hanging out usually at a corner, have a helper hold window against frame with some pressure , then just pull cords one at a time or both together. This will pull the lubed up lip out over the widow frame. Being careful the window will slide in from outside. If pulling from inside install the same but put lock ( if it has one like windshield) in before you start.

What are the most impressive things I’ve seen so far is you’re a good family man spending time to go to your sons basketball game very very important. Anyway I bought cooling fans. It’s always better if possible to have a fan were pools because it’s more efficient. Paul can I make a suggestion instead of grease on the extension arms for the wrecker put Nylon blocks. Grease will on attract dirt, rocks & so on and jam the ram over time. Nylon blocks wear over time but it would be years before you would have to replace 1 Love your work keep it au Fab Rats.

Well now, the PTO drive off the second transfer case 'splains a LOT about lack of hydraulic flow. The electric over hydraulic set up sure simplificates the multi station controls too! Nice job. Also, pulling off the impossible of installing the back glass (and a slider to boot) must feel good!

@fabrats paul, if i wewe doing this repower, i would isolate the hydraulic power unit from the energy put into the cylinders that comes by towing 6000+ pounds offroad. That slamming jamming pressure spike can and will destroy pump seals.
