In this video I have discussed one of the most famous postcolonial novel Things Fall Apart by Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe.
Things Fall Apart was written in 1957.
Things Fall Apart was published in 1958. Firstly I have given a brief introduction and historical background of the novel Things fall apart. Then I have discussed a brief biography of the author Chinua Achebe.
Chinua Achebe was born in southeastern Nigeria in the famous village of Ogidi, an igbo society and was a graduate of University of Ibadan. The novel was a reaction to Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness. Chinua Achebe delivered a lecture on Joseph Conrad, calling him a bloody racist and his work as offensive and deplorable book. After discussing the biography, I have given plot summary of the novel with introduction of all major characters including Okonkwo of Umuofia Clan.
