I don't know if this might be a big spoiler for you or not (It's up to you whether you want to read it or not but here I'm trying to only tell Hatengu's background) The reason why Hatengu being split into 4 existences was because in his past life Hatengu was a ruthless but cowardly serial killer, then when he became a demon after meeting muzan.. His demon blood art presents His will to survive which because he is very cowardly he needs someone to defend him, but because he is a demon it's impossible to rely on someone else to protect himself. Then subconsciously he realizes that the only one who can protect himself is himself, that's where his demon blood technique is created which breaks his existence from every emotion (that every other one becomes younger, stronger, and carries mystical powers as well) that he actually has behind his cowardice.

@mr.sagnikd6989 The hypothesis you have put forward is based solely on the evidence that "this black sword comes from 400 years ago." That cannot prove this sword is Yorichis's sword. The reason that prove this sword isn't Yorichi's sword because not only the design of the sword is different, but also the sword of Yorichi's sword was broken by a demon already (that happened in manga). You have this hypothesis just because "Tanjiro is the main character so he must take the sword of strongest swordman". Although I can't prove that sword belongs to which swordman, still had some swordmans had black sword in the past. Therefore, you cannot prove that black sword is the sword of Yorichi.
