I know that there’s a ton of “scrapped” pickaxe parts that aren’t available to players. They appear on the ones by the pickaxe modification terminal but you can’t use those parts yourself.

As someone who doesn't currently partake in the DRG modding community, I am very confused, yet interested by the things I saw in this. Also, that Pre-Alpha screenshot with the hexagon pillars is super cool! I suggested a biome, or sub biome that has formations like that, as its a rare real world occurrence. Neat to see that it was planned at one point, but sadly that probably means its scrapped and never coming.

I think im gonna experience more of the base game before I delve into the mods for this but seeing some of the stuff he has equipped has me very interested for when I do decide to try some mods out

In case you didn't know, there are a ton of great mods that are client-side only and don't change any core functionality, so you can still join public lobbies as you would normally without your mods affecting progression or anyone else. A couple that come to mind are the brighter objects mod (makes things like fossils and boolo caps slightly more visible) or the damage numbers mod (shows exactly how much damage you and your teammates are doing - nice for testing new builds). Gameplay altering mods (like the one shown in the video) are fun too, but the lighter client-side mods offer a great entry point to DRG modding by adding small QOL changes to the base game. All this to say, don't feel like you need to wait on mods until you "finish" experiencing the base game since many mods just serve to enhance the vanilla experience. Rock and Stone!

"Don't leave me, like you left Karl!" is a voice line for being outside of the drop pod when it leaves, either due to being downed while the rest of the team is inside or due to the timer ticking down to nothing. Other voice lines, such as "Damn you, Deep Rock Galactic!" also play when this happens, but I've heard (but not confirmed) 'like you left Karl' was removed from the pool of possible lines. Rather time-consuming to test, though, because you'd need to continuously reach and fail extraction; I guess duo egg hunt speedrunning time.

My god, that mod you were showing for much of the video with the contagion cleanup mission type looked so good; I unironically thought it was a pre-release concept for season 3 before they decided to turn the mission into a mutator. The idea of fighting in a wholly overtaken cave, where your only source of safety from the zombie bugs and the fetid air, sounds fantastic and so much more in line with the desperate vibe the devs were trying to portray when fighting the Lithophage outbreak. At the moment, I love the concept of the outbreak, but it feels so... gimped. Management tells me how these bumbling half-alive corpses killed THREE TEAMS. I want to feel like I'm fighting for my life against this disease; I no longer want to feel at home in these caves, dammit!

I just want a game mode like an endless like mission. Doretta just keeps going and opening up new areas that have another primary objective (like pumpjacks or eggs) and the previous areas eventually close up. The deeper you go, the more you unlock. Could be a better endgame if done right.

For Gas Extractor, I think one of the concepts for Escort Duty was originally that, every time it stopped, you had to build a pipeline from gas deposits directly to (or from?) the Drilldozer. This eventually became On-Site Refinery and the refueling process was changed to the laser canisters we have now. I don't remember where I heard this info, but it clicked in my head when you described it.

Would be interesting to have a rail mission, where you'd have to mine metal ore, depositing them into a refinery, then you'd get material for setting up a railway. Finally you'd have to extract oil shale as well for fuelling the train or minecarts. I have yet no idea what task the underground rail should accomplish. I just enjoy the thought of building an underground railway, and ride it too.

A few folks in the suggestions channel in DRG's discord claim that the silicate harvester knockoff with minerals on its back was going to be a sort of mineral mimic. (I personally like the fanmade creature that someone suggested with their own concept art in 2019. the centipede/cobra just looks cooler.)

So they just cut out or oversimplify every mechanic, event and content in general. Them reusing literally everything and not adding things like material interactions between driller's primaries or new mechanics that can't be copypasted from what the already made is honestly frustrating, as I'm struggling to find a reason to play this game, because it just encourages this lazy development style every online game adopted, including the one that usually gets priced for it being the opposite. I.e. rockpox just being a rip off of freezing effect and new enemies just being a recolored versions of old ones (you'd assume they could at least make more than 2 for a season, if they just recolor and slap yellow balls to them). Also battle pass in every game is made for the sole purpose of making it easier to manipulate players to stay longer in your game, which they seem to also switch onto for that reason. They announced that we will get the same "event" when we collect random bs to get double experience for battlepass progression for their 5'h anniversary which tells something not only about their ability to deliver new content, but their priorities and disrespect for their community
