@@k.t.5405 What an ignorant comment. Joshua Tree came out in March of '87, Big Blue Sky(the album this song comes from) was released in July of '87. If you really think they heard it and immediately wrote their own copy-cat, got it published and released in 4 months then you know absolutely nothing about the industry. What's more, the Pikes originally formed as The Idols in 1979, before U2 had released their first single, let alone become popular enough to reach overseas markets.

Reminds me of a GREAT trip to Victoria BC. When somebody gives you shroom-spiked tea and doesn't tell you... Weird things can happen... And THIS was playing when I thought I was having some kind of weird food poisoning, while everyone in on it started laughing at me. I'll never forget that song. At least they watched over me so I wouldn't do anything stupid after that shroom-infused tea, and the next morning I puked my guts out. My one and only experience. Too much disconnect if you ask me. And a very grumpy stomach for a few days after. Just like I'll never listen to Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" again, because I had that stupid cassette playing on auto-reverse all night in my bright yellow Sony Walkman, when I got REALLY sick with my first, stupid, football team drinking binge... When I hear that song play, I get sick all over again. I couldn't even SMELL Rhum for about 10 years after that. I had WAY too many Zombies that evening. The things I did to be a team player... I wouldn't do again. I thought I was being practical, now I'm just not really sociable. Whatever,, it rhymes... It's a cool song. Sorry about my meandering who-cares story... That song just popped those memories right out of hibernation. Sounds and Smells will do that.
