I will never forget when this song was played constantly not only on the radio, but also on the CBC show "Video Hits" (then hosted by Samantha Taylor) back during the summer of 1987 (when I also worked at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto that same summer). On another note, I still remember when The Northern Pikes opened for Luba at the old Ontario Place Forum on the night of Thursday, June 18, 1987 [eight days before my 17th birthday (as I was there with my then friend Pradeep Bhatia)]. Even so, the song that I actually remember the most from that particular night is not 'Teenland', but "Jackie T', as a matter of fact. ("Jackie T, I have a crush on you.")

Canadian music was so godamn good in the late 80s-90s. And Muchmusic did a good job with flooding it into our houses!
@EarlMcManus20054 жыл бұрын
Did Canadian content laws force Much to play these guys? Don't get me wrong, I think these guys were amazing but Canadian media really seemed to be looking down on homegrown content back in the day.
@jayjoejeanz4 жыл бұрын
@@EarlMcManus2005 I'm pretty sure MUCHMUSIC had a certain percentage of Canadian content they had to play on the station. Even if it wasn't popular. I remember watching Celine Dion singing French-only songs. I don't think I ever would have heard or known Alannah Myles or Lee Aaron if it wasn't for MUCH. Barenaked Ladies got their big break on the show Speakers Corner....stick a loonie in the slot and get your three minutes of fame. As you can tell I am a former Muchmusic kid.
