As a Mexican, I've always thought that modern piñatas in kid's parties are weird. I mean, traditional ones make a lot of sense because of the spikes and what those mean, but this whole idea of buying a piñata of a character the kid likes so everyone beats the hell out of it is so strange! (Mexican here, born, raised and still surviving in CDMX) TL;DR: Violence and sex sell really well. Those newspapers know that, but sex imagery is regulated; violence is not. And there's the result. --> Ok, so, the main problem with graphic newspapers is divided in three: 1. There's no proper regulation for that kind of violent contents in printed media, much less its public exhibition. 2. Unfortunately, there's a lot of people who actually buy those newspapers, not just for the violent imagery, but also for the (very) sexual images they have inside. 3. Ironically (like really, wtf), there's a lot of regulation for sexual content in printed media, so _you'll almost never see sexual contents as easily as graphic violent ones_. // In conclusion, those newspapers know very well that violence and sex sell really well. But they keep the sexual stuff inside, while the violence is on the front page. And for now, most of us have to endure that kind of shit. Fortunately, this may be a bold statement but I do think most Mexicans do not read that kind of contents. A lot of them do, but most don't. EDIT: Forgot to mention the most important thing: I love your videos. Really. You're very good doing this, sir.

That "genre" of newspapers is called nota roja. Violent crimes, accidents, anything gruesome that appeals to the morbidity of some people. It's been around for over a hundred years and as Carlos said most people don't read it, cause let's be honest... it's literary or journalistic value is almost non-existant, nontheless it has it's audience.
@fernandocastro20757 жыл бұрын
Carlos Etergen you forgot to say that those kinds of media at targeted for the poorest or "lower classes" you can notice in the language of those "red note" newspaper , even in the announcements you can notice that and they are cheaper than the "real newspapers"... That's because we have a huge problem and bad wealth distribution, and there is people who benefits from that :( i love my country but it is also very very shitty in many ways

Regarding the gore-ey tabloids, yeah I fucking hate those, we have a handful of good newspapers, a bunch of bad ones, and a truckload of those horrible things... On a side note: DUUUUUUUUDE "Los Chupacabras" ARE AWESOME! And they close super-duper late, so they are just perfect if you got out of a party near Coyoacán and feel a little drunk.

I honestly think detergent soap for handwashing is the best, I use foca when I do my laundry and it exfoliates my hands and doesn't leave them sticky or anything other than clean and smelling like flowers, never used roma though haha :) Saludos desde Baja California Paul !

Your video editing is getting better and better! Congrats! Hahaha btw, growing up Mexican in Mexico made me realised I have to carry a hand cream ALWAYS because of Roma soap (it actually takes the dirt quite fast) XD
@TrueMexico7 жыл бұрын
Yeah to be honest Roma does clean dirt more efficiently. I can't deny that!

Happens pretty often in Mexico City and perhaps other states around. Sometimes comes Roma, sometimes Blanca Nieves or the classic Zote bar 🤣 Never thought about it before but indeed is weird. I grew around Tijuana and of course never saw this there

Jajaja! I loved the video Paul. You reminded me of my trip to Monterrey, where I ran into a bathroom with laundry soap and missing toilet seats. That experience was so strange to me, that I spent the rest of that trip avoiding public restrooms

Im Mexican and im totally disgusted by the violent newspapers. Here we call them "Periódicos amarillistas" and they are everywhere. Its horrible how they show them,How they dont have respect for the children and even worse for the families of the victims that they are showing of. In my opinion. Those newspapers are a very third world thing. Any way,Very cool channel mate 👍

I was briefly in Mexico for a day in Cozumel and while there was a toilet seat, the toilets wouldn’t flush. There was a lady whose job it was to dump a bucket of water in the toilet bowl when you were done your business. Talk about super creepy and embarrassing!
@otherstuff85497 жыл бұрын
I always going to love your videos, you should talk one day about what is consider an offense in Mexico, for example when a mexican invites you food and you don't want it, how mexicans react and how to respond in a polite way no.
@TrueMexico7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, that's a good idea for sure :D
@hugogonzalez17497 жыл бұрын
We would insist and gently make fun of you, accusing you of being a lightweight for not even trying the food and pressure you to eat some more, possibly offering you some other dish or atleast a beverage. At a certain point, we might give up on insisting and start eating ourselves. Possibly finding the opportunity later on, in between bites or after everyone has finished eating, to make fun of you some more, e.g. "Estás enamorado o en dieta?"

@escabasket1535 жыл бұрын
All you have to do is say you just ate and can’t possibly have another bite. One thing that’s really offensive is calling some stupid.
