What you said about dessert is so true! When I was a kid, one of my friend's mum had a policy: you could start with dessert if you wanted to, you just couldn't have it a second time at the end. It did take the magical power out of dessert. And it also means you can't put pressure on your child to eat the veggies or else (which we sometimes do without realising I find)

Yes so true. My parents did this and I find myself doing it sometimes in frustrating moments when Mimi is fussy or being picky. I've learnt to let it go now and just offer her healthy food and no other choices and now she is getting much better with eating her veggies. Haha. X

@@ThisFamilyThing just goes to show the power struggle is rarely ever the best way to getting them to do what we want... yeah we offer fruit too if she's not having her veggies

Yes, the travel situation! I have always prioritised travel abroad and we have been on some incredible adventures before having our child. I'm ready to embrace more travel once it's safer to - and the key I think, with a small child, is to be relaxed and to go with the flow. I'm working on being a bit more adaptable to everyday challenges and receptive to taking things at a slower pace and being more flexible with a toddler (who thrives on structure and a familiar rhythm).

Yes I think we are in the same boat here. Working on those things too. Definitely makes life more enjoyable and fun. X

Yes yes and yes! Having a second child brings a whole new dynamic! We have 10 min special time most days , she loves it. And we serve whatever she requests with dinner as well (we don’t actually eat dessert either) - she usually wants dried fruit :))
