hi everyone 😌 this video was meant to premiere tommorow night but my plans got cancelled tonight because my state is in lockdown so I am currently sitting outside in the sun with a beer, it’s 5pm here in Australia and I thought I would sit and watch with you! There’s some pesto sauce currently simmering in the kitchen cos we have heaps of basil in our garden 🌱🌿🪴 hope you enjoy. Thanks for all of your kind words lately ❤️❤️

Totally agree with everything you say. I came off Social media 2 years ago when I became a Mom. I didn't want to miss a moment of my sons childhood and I wanted to he as present as possible for him. I didn't want to be that mom who endless scrolls whilst your child is taking to you. I'm so much happier xx

Peta, I love your videos about digital minimalism. I quit social media (fb, insta, snapchat, twitter) in May 2021 after 14 years of being on it (I'm 22). I've become so much happier and have so much more connection with the people and world around me. I feel so free. Watching your videos are so helpful with staying on this path of being truly present in the moment and not falling back into the social media world especially with everyone around you being such heavy users of social media. Thank you for your content! Never stop creating

omg I realized I was dressing for pics for social media but now since I let go of snapchat, fb, twitter and Instagram I don't dress up as much. I mean I've always loved fashion but now I'm more natural and when I do take pics I print them out at walgreens and put them in my own personal photo album at home, yes I still have photo album books lol

The last thing you've mentioned is so true! It's way better to stay in the moment and enjoy it fully. I remember reading about an experiment done during a concert, people who filmed a lot and took many pictures missed a lot of details of the night and were not able to remember the concert as clearly as people who just focussed on the performance and didn't use their phone at all. Another thing that we need to keep in mind is that if we didn't post or capture something, it doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Many people really feel the urge to ''prove'' things through social media.
@PamPooh11113 жыл бұрын
Also when I had social media I realized I was always in a bad mood or had a slight attitude c I was being interrupted from scrolling and paid too much attention to social media but you're right, now that I have deleted them I have more patience, I have more time to reflect on the now and present moment, I've enjoyed my family a lot more cause I am not distracted, the only thing that saddens me now that I am gone from the digital world no friends check on me by phone. My phone has become soooooo dry since I let social media go but that's fine cause I am at peace and I haven't been angry or impatient based of scrolling or based off what I read on social media, live has slowed down a lot for me and I love it. Thank you, I have deleted social media and before and reactivated them but its been two weeks and that's the longest and I don't even have an urge to get back :)

Instagram is defenitely the most addictive one among social media for me as well, and it's the hardest one to quit. Lots of love from India! I have been a regular watcher of all your videos and I totally enjoy them. All the points about Instagram are so true. I have felt the same. Sometimes, social medias do the opposite of what their name says. They aren't so social, but force to become a showcase of who we want to be. And remove present moments. So I totally agree with you 💕 (I hope my english is not too bad 🙈). Love from France

Thank you for this video!🖤 it’s crazy because is not until you’re actively aware of the toxic elements of using social media, that you realise how much it affects you! I deleted Facebook and don’t miss it. I don’t post stories on Instagram, I narrowed my access from other people just to my family and a few friends and a couple of people that I like to follow regarding artists that I like to keep in touch with or some people on the Great British bake off. But I’m sure not on it a lot. I think social media is a big waste of time and text people away from what’s important in life. Good for you for realizing where your time is well spent. Enjoyed your post.

I am in the process of deleting my social media as in deactivating it because I don't feel I want to delete it. This would be my first time deleting it and I instantly notice a certain amount of stress when I think about deleting my accounts yet (attachment🙄). It's a feeling of fear of missing out especially with what my friends would share so that gave me insights about how attached I am to it. Also what you describe as your fantasy self, that really resonates with me, I always want to put up a sort of persona of myself which leading to that I now don't know who I am, who I REALLY am, what I REALLY want. I am close to knowing that but I know social media is standing in the way. I will be deleting my apps soon 💖

Hi Peta! I enjoy hearing your stories and totally agree with you on social media. I have Instagram and Fb for business purposes (which I’m switching professions) and have another Instagram for personal. But I a few months quit with the posting of personal pics. Because it is time-consuming.I have become more present and in the moment! Like you said, you feel FREE! More time to do more meaningful things and things are more sacred to me and my little world. I've never been on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok ... I left Facebook almost 8 years ago, after only a year on. I rarely get on Pinterest anymore, usually only to search recipes. I still like KZbin but am ridiculously picky about what I watch and how much time I spend on it. I appreciate your thoughts on this topic; my family and I have talked extensively about social media vs. in-person conversations.

I m actually like this and have been like this and am happy u r teaching people and sharing this cz people like us are been judged and also we r not like everyone.. Cz everyone is into materialistic things a lot and this is endless vicious cycle. The more u earn more u need,,, It has no end.. Whole life u will keep working cz u have to purchase all these things..i don't on this to people cz they won't like me. Peace of mind and happiness is so important to survive and is a realtime luxury, nothing else u need. I love the garden and greenery is there at your place. Actually nature increases consciousness and I think that is affecting u a lot cz same has happened in my life also.. I stay very close to nature. Love to see u like this.

I absolutely feel you! (oh btw this is susanna, i just changed my username lol) for the exact same reason i no longer post on instagram and have all this timeline of organised/planned photos where it's jsut so unrealistic to what life is and that fear of imperfection or what if people don't want to see it. it can be so suffocating. i tend to just go on there to view a couple of people's stories and that's it. for facebook i had to unfollow so many people that were just posting things that bothered me so i only briefly look at it to see interesting posts. i almost want to make a response to this video sharing my own experience about how social media can wreck havoc in mental health and how i managed it. im so happy that you are able to free yourself from it because it can be really difficult to break an addiction. i love that you feel free from those things. I think one of the best things in the world is having a face to face conversation. no amouint of text can ever make the facial expressions and sound of one's voice. that's one of the things that i really learnt.

Not everyone has this problem. And, I like instagram and don't necessarily agree with her comments. The younger generation uses apps more than others, I think. I don't use instagram to use personally save for a random post here and there. What I object to? Patreon. Originally put out there for artists who wanted to showcase their work. Now, all youtubers use patreon to entice signing up and paying for content and worse yet? 99% begin selling merchandise. Honestly? I think I am watching infomercials rather than a pleasant video. Many make videos a full time job but this means asking more and more for those who watch. Again, let's not forget the origins of what youtube was and that was for regular people to post. I am 71 and perhaps it is my age so comparing apples to oranges but my personality type is that I don't rely on social media. The one I think is Twitter. I don't use it, nor snap chat, tiktok or any up and coming. The younger generation see these apps as a form of communication and they don't have prior life before these technologies so they see this as a normal part of communication such as constant texting. So perhaps this individual was addicted to social media to get her through the day whereas many are not but are selective in its use.

I agree. I stepped back from IG. I still have my handle so that people can find me in other places but I no longer post other content than "hey, remember how I left this platform?
