Hi Silvana, I happened to find you just now. I'm totally with you, your suggestions are just me, too. I'm 75 now, still working, wearing one size bigger than in my youth, and I'm so glad about your shoe proposals. A lot of fashion influencer for women over 50 seem to forget that we still live after our fifties, we get 65, 75, 85 or more....we can't walk in stilettos all our lives, and it looks better to have a healthy walk in beautiful flats than to stumble and tumble along the paths wearing shoes, we ought to give away years ago.

Ladies don't wish to be younger than you are. There is always someone younger than you and someone older than you. It works both ways. Don't try to look young because you think it's where the power is. Past 40 the power is in your wallet, just like in men. Focus on what you can control instead of making bad decisions on what you can't control.
@lizziebkennedy75052 жыл бұрын
There was never power in your face or body. It’s a dangerous lie.

“…the power is in your wallet…” discounts the value of every woman who has found herself financially disadvantaged through disability, crushing medical debt, natural disaster, or other tragedy beyond her control. When we depend on external sources such as financial success on which to base our self esteem, we set ourselves up for potential disappointment. There is also “power” (of the most important type) in knowing who you are; in having lived your life with integrity; in staying informed and connected with the world; in finding ways to be of service to others. Financial security *is* important and makes life easier in many ways -and yes… gives one a degree of power- but not everyone has control over whether or not they achieve that goal. It requires not only hard work, good planning, and discipline, but also a degree of luck. A lack of financial resources needn’t lessen a person’s value in their family or their community, and it doesn’t diminish all that they’ve learned, experienced, or contributed in their life. Money, like youth and beauty, can be fleeting and is given too much emphasis in our culture. As we lie on our deathbeds, we are unlikely to agonize over the value of our accumulated investments and properties. However, if we have lived with courage, passion, and tried to leave the world just a little better with our presence, then that’s *enough.*
@Chicquette2 жыл бұрын
@@altitudeiseverything3163 I appreciate you sharing your perspective. No one is dismissing a woman's value. I think this video and post is related to a woman's beauty defined by age. It's wrong to define ourselves by temporary physical beauty. Everyone has challenges, some more difficult than others. Obstacles are opportunities. When facing them it's our chance to walk out in the arena and take things into our own hands instead of expecting others to come save us.
@altitudeiseverything31632 жыл бұрын
@@Chicquette It’s also wrong to define ourselves by the money in our “wallet.” I’ve worked with many women disabled and/or living with serious chronic illness. Few of them had much in the way of financial resources, but *not one of them expected anyone to “save them.”* They merely wanted to have their skills and talents recognized, to be seen as having value for the person they are, rather than *others* defining them by their limitations. And they wanted an opportunity to be hired and earn a living. Discrimination does exist, even if you don’t see it yourself. And despite your assertion that “obstacles are opportunities,” there remain some who face challenges so overwhelming that they actually *do* require substantial support, regardless of how fervently they may wish to make it completely on their own. Most of us don’t want to live in a society where the most vulnerable are blamed for circumstances beyond their control, or left to suffer.

Hello everyone, hope you've all had a lovely weekend :) Not a usual time for me, a little bit late. Today, I'm sharing some things that I personally stopped doing or buying or that I observed my clients doing or buying, with a bit of encouragement from my part :) which really changed our lives for the better. Sometimes we do things in the auto-pilot but it's so good to get back on track eventually and be in line with who we are or want to be. Let me know if this resonates with you and what you have stopped doing or buying lately. Big hugs everyone, I'm looking forward to chatting with you all and really hope you find this video helpful, Silvana x

I love your content Silvana…..at 66 and two sizes larger than I was at 50….I’m struggling….as a retired person who cares for my three grandchildren all day, I have little need for dressier clothes however I’m very conscious of not looking frumpy and old…it is quite a challenge! I appreciate all your advice.

Hanks Silvana, Your videos are so inspiring. I'm soon to be 57, and sometimes feel I dress too young for my age. You confirm that i dont , my style is similar to yours and are based on clothing that I have over 20 years mixed with somethings more modern. I have always purposely shopped on low budget, I get a thrill out of knowing that I can create new outfits from shopping my closet of items that didn't cost much and still end up looking fabulous.

I just discovered you and am grateful for this video! I’m about to watch your video on key wardrobe pieces-so excited to absorb your knowledge! Thank you lovely!!! 😘 I’m approaching 50 in 1 year and 2 weeks! My 49th is in October 😊 I’ve always appreciated each year and don’t like to hide my age; however I have been feeling a the need to rediscover myself at this age. As in big questions like, “who do I want to be in my second half of life??” But also I am asking myself how I want to communicate that to the world as well as how I want to feel. All this being said, I’ve been searching for female “role models” online who can help guide me to discovering my personal style. I just sold and donated about 80% of my wardrobe because it was filled with out of character trends, impulsive items, and unflattering basic, boring things I used to hide my body (I went through menopause during the pandemic-my body shifted and I suddenly found my metabolism changed). It was a rude awakening to see everything I wasted money on but at the same time, I learned so much about myself. What works, doesn’t work and that I needed to spend more time on living myself!!! Anyway, long comment!! Thank you for this video and your channel ❤

This video hits home for me. I can no longer walk in high heels for any length of time and have stopped wearing any heel higher than 2" and I only wear those occasionally. Flats are my go to shoes for the past 5 years at least. I also appreciate natural materials and try to stay away from polyester. You have a sophisticated presence and are very inspiring to watch so keep the videos coming. Have a blessed day.

Thanks for sharing, Kimberly. I can no longer wear high heels either, and it's totally fine. Gone are the days when the highest the heel the better, thank goodness! But even if it was still the 'rule' we have to do what's best for our bodies. Have a wonderful week ahead xx

I just discovered you this evening. You are a delight to learn from and listen to. I am am one of those ladies that need to give away things I have not worn for 2 years! I also need to discover what I do have. I work at home now and I do not need the "professional" wardrobe I use to have. So this is where I am confused. I don't want to wear workout clothes all day long. Nor, do I want to wear frumpy clothes. It's hard trying to rediscover who I am. Perhaps I will be that trendsetter!

I've taken 3 bags of clothes to the op-shop, and I've put all my skirts together, tops and dresses so that I can see what I have to wear and match. I've got stuff that's too tight and never worn but I'm keeping those just in case I lose a bit and fit in them again. I'm only going to buy good quality pieces that will mix and match.

Facial acupuncture is great. I've never had the desire to have botox. A neuro toxin injected into your head with no long term studies seems a bit naive & highly risky to me. Interesting to hear people are developing antibodies to it. More women need to speak out about these cosmetic procedures.
