I would add jeans, with holes in them, to your list. I can't bring myself to spend money on jeans that look like they went through a shredding machine. There is no way to make them look nice! I also agree with you about the wedge heels. They are a difficult shoe to walk in, especially if they have that narrowed heel. I would be afraid of twisting my ankle in those shoes.

Ripped jeans😱..most horrible things EVER!!!! If your over the age of 20, you just look ridiculous and looks like ones trying very hard to hang on to their youth/childhood. Im not spending my money on shredded material at this age. Im speaking as a hard core coastal New Englander, so I might be mistaken, just me 2 cents.😉

What I hate most about ripped jeans is not only do they look trashy and inelegant but they send a nasty message of elitism. I traveled more than 100 times around the world in my youth. I saw real crushing hopeless shocking poverty. People of all ages who had only ripped clothing to wear. They would have been so grateful to have clothes that didn't have holes in them. I traveled with clothes to give away and received tears of joy in return. I couldn't help everyone but I did what I could. here we have insensitive people paying ridiculous amounts of money for jeans with rips and holes in them. A painful and ugly mockery of people forced to wear ripped clothes. These deliberately ripped and shredded jeans are not only ugly and out of style they make a mockery of poverty. Make it stop.

I agree with almost everything you said. I am just a bit over 5’ tall and always felt that ballet flats and backpack style handbags made me look like I was a little girl. I am also very careful with animal prints in clothing and, regarding hot pink or fuchsia, I can totally see why you might not like that color. I have a very light complexion and nearly black hair, so those colors look great on me, but your coloring is totally different.

Hi Valentina, I love watching you. You are so much like me when I was in my 40's. I'm now 60, petite, 5'2", Italian American, olive skin, and continue to think and like the same style and designs as you. I've always loved heels and worn them when I worked in an office setting. Now that I don't wear a 3-inch heel to work anymore, I do love a kitten heel when I go shopping or church. I love pink too, but not all pinks look good on me. I like your idea of a darker hue of pink. I love blazers, but I don't wear it because I'm home and I feel it's so much clothing on. I wear a light cardigan sweater. I like a ballerina flat around the house, not so much when I go out. I too don't like backpack bags. When I used one for a trip I took, I stuffed that bag so much that my shoulders and back was hurting. I prefer a crossbody too. I bought the cutest Kate Spade Crossbody in an airport store. Love it, I use it all the time. I live in New York, and I wear lots of different style hats. When I was younger, I never wore a hat because it always flattened out my hair style. Now that I am older, I don't care. :) So, I guess, as long as I look and feel young, I'm going to continue wearing what makes me happy. Take care. P.S. Also love you home design. I've incorporated a few new ideas into my current house design.

Fantastic video and a good topic for discussion here in your community-thank you for being a voice of reason regarding some of these wardrobe items. I have learned the shoe lesson the hard way (teacher-on my feet all day!!) and now do not buy any shoe without serious arch support. I think that we become more discerning as we age and realize that refinement and sophistication really matter at just about the time when we have more disposable income for "investment pieces" too-at least that's what happened to me. Our distinct styles are what make us stand out and noticeably impact how others treat us. I NEVER wanted to be like everyone else in the first place! Really enjoy all of your posts-keep them coming!

Thank you Valentina, for making this video!!! My absolute FAVORITE shoe is a kitten heel. I thought they were out of style because I don’t see them much. The problem is I have knee issues and can probably only wear 1.5 inch heels at the most. I haven’t worn a heel in around 8-10 years. I also have big feet and it’s pretty hard to find my size. I love the flat mules you wear to the job sites, but I live in NYC and I can only wear them late spring, summer and early fall. I will be getting a pair now for next year. I love the look of a blazer, but I don’t like the way they look on ME. I don’t like stiff or chunky collars. They don’t work on my body. I was just looking for a denim collarless jacket and decided I will have to buy one with a collar and then cut it off. Loved all your black and white blouses!!! I can’t wait to see more videos on this channel. Just subbed

I'm shocked about the wedge heel comments. I honestly thought it was universal truth that wedges were the most comfortable 'heel'. Valentina, LOVE your name! I am 73 and 5’9 and have been taller than most people my whole life. Certainly, back in my younger years, girls just always looked cute and petite instead of tall and lanky. Boys would call me stretch, stilts, string bean and a boat load of very unflattering and, (at the time) hurtful names. Of course they were also shorter than I was and didn’t seem to grow to adults height until the senior year of HS or college. But, I do get it, I understand your passion for shoes and fashion that are more attractive for your body and give you some additional inches. I have never gravitated to 3” or ++ heels, I never enjoyed towering over everyone. I have a hell of a time finding pants or nice trousers that are more than 29-30” inseam, although it’s much easier now compared to my fragile teenage years. I do dislike ballerina flats mainly because they look a little sloppy and hurt my feet, legs and knees. I think you have great style and always look polished and I love that about you. Being an older woman, I never thought of looking into “coated” black jeans until I heard you mention them recently. and guess what, Banana Republic has them with a 33” inseam !!! I’m a happy woman. Granted, I have a very short season to wear them, I live in the Tampa area of FL, but I’m welcoming our mild winter coming in. Thank you for your Fashion channel. I know of a 94 year young woman who's been wearing high heels since her late teens. She said she started wearing them because she's under 5 ft. and her long time boyfriend was 6 ft. 4. Then she married a guy 6 ft. 5. She said she even wore high heel slippers all the time around the house from the moment she walked in the door and it is what she slides her feet into when she is getting up from out of bed. She said she can't walk with flat footwear at all, even her age. Her posture is erect, she's slim, and she amazingly walks and carries herself very well in high heels. For exercise, she walks up and down three fights of stairs at least 4 x's per day wearing her high heels - pointed toes and skinny heels 👠 too.

Loved it! And I SO agree. The ballet flats round toe are just stubby to me. I am all about the pointed toe. And the chunk a hunk lug sole loafers require a flat footed clod stomp walk. Because I have worn heels for so long, I think I do a toe ball lift and you can't toe ball lift when the sole is thick as a brick. 🤭 The back pack OR the never full, I don't get either. I have so much difficulty with shoes. A few years back my husband and I were broadsided by a truck which was running the red light. One of the many consequences of that is my back is permanently injured. I can not wear heels of any kind without suffering excruciating pain. Not even kitten heels. I had to give away all my heels including many beautiful YSL heels I acquired while working for them. So what to do? You are right that flat shoes ballet or not are hideously uncomfortable. I love fashion and I have what I consider to be a chic wardrobe. But then how do you look chic if your shoes don't. Normally I dress casually so I can wear Vionics leather sneakers and still look chic and be comfortable. If I'm super casual (or in Florida) I can wear Vionics leather flip flops. The big problem is that I have found no elegant comfortable dressy shoes.🙁 What do I wear to a festive more dressy party? I have elegant evening clothes but no shoes to match. Sometimes I decline invitations because I have no appropriate shoes to wear. I continue the hunt. Btw, I adore the way you dress. Elegant. Classic. Chic. Love the new channel. Subscribed ❤

I agree with you about backpacks and loafers. Backpacks don’t elevate my style and loaders look too clunky and manly on my small frame.

When you started to talk about wedge heels, all I could think of was “Omg, I hate them! They are so uncomfortable, give me a block heel all day!” Lol.. Good to know I’m not alone.

Interesting! I love Skechers flats (not loafers or ballerinas!), Dooney or Kipling purses, and black clothes. I shudder to remember some of my previous “fashion” choices.

I agree with just about all the things you mentioned. I still like a wedge heel for summer, they make my legs look longer and the Tom’s wedge I have are so comfortable. I tend to like more flats or a low heel- I am 5’5 and high heels hurt. I briefly wore ballet flat- I think I had one in my 30s but soon forgot about them and never wore again lol same for backpacks. I love a crossbody- it is the main purse I carry. I don’t usually follow trends but I like the whole Barbiecore trend and I am looking for a bright pink top. In my younger years, I never wore pink. I also wore neutral colors and my mom always thought it was funny that I always wore white and beige/brown but as I got older I have added more color. Thanks for a fun video

I am completly by you about the chunky loafers (and chunky shoes in general). I love only delicate shoes... well, as delicate as possible in winter ;) but it's become very tricky to find normal, classic kniehigh boots that are not chunky and not too big on my slim legs!

I have to say I agree withyou on everything you said except the wedge. However I've never found a comfortable one

I had kitten heals when I worked in retail back in the late 80's. I'm so glad they never really went out, because I cannot wear ballerina flats, even though I always thought they looked cute with jeans.

I need to work on buying things I love that I feel like myself in. There are so many things that I love in fashion. I try it, love it, but something is off. I don't feel like myself and I need to learn to decipher the difference!!!

You have a sophisticated classic style!!! I really love it & agree with this video! I will look for that subdued wine color!

I totally agree with all your never buying again comments. Wedge shoes do not bend, that's the problem. Moto jackets have zero boob room. You are so right about this entire list!!

I agree with you on so many of these items! I don't like the look of loafers, and I do find them very uncomfortable. They hit me in a spot on my foot that causes blisters every time. Unfortunately, I can't wear mules as my foot slips right out of them! I also agree on the Moto jacket. I love blazers, tweed jackets and all sorts of other jacket styles, but not the moto. I didn't wear my wedges all summer, as well. If they are very narrow at the bottom, then it's very easy to get off balance. I am in my mid-70s, so I can't wear super high heels any longer, but I do like block and kitten heels. I'm also petite, five two, 115 lb, but I like the look of the lug sole Chelsea boots. On a recent trip to Europe, I wore some brand new Sam Edelma Chelsea boots in Ivory, that are some of the most comfortable shoes I own!

I agree with most of these. I do love my leather moto jacket. Never got into the ballerina flats, wedges I find I love them in the summer with dresses, they are very comfortable. I do not like chunky soles on shoes either because they make my feet look boxy and like cartoon characters feet lol.

I share your sentiments about wedges. They are hard to walk in and not very safe. I once wore wedges to work, unknowingly walked across a wet floor, and fell like a sack of bricks! I don’t know what was more embarrassing, the initial fall or being one of “those” employees who’s employer had to file a workman’s comp claim. Wedges are the devil!!!!

re: wedges - there's some really slim shaped ones that look delicate but they're few and far between so I have just one pair and only because they're super comfortable (because they have some kind of foam type of material in the front and don't give me blisters which is a miracle). I don't wear them very often either though. I wear block heel sandals when I'm going out. I think that whole "heavy shoe to balance the outfit" is not my thing either. I tried on heavy loafers and felt like Big Foot (I'm 5'5" with a size 9 foot, big shoes look enormous on me). I just don't think that big shoes are for me either and I need to stop feeling bad about that

"Don't pat the Valentina". Love it! Okay my opinions: I own what I call modified ballerina flats. They have either a pointed or sort of squared toe and they also have a slight heel, so not a "true" ballerina flat. Love the kitten heels and own many. As I have gotten older, I can no longer wear 3 1/2-4 inch heels. I own one pair of Ralph Lauren "driving" loafers and love them. They are not chunky. Really dislike the chunky loafers. soo clunky looking. I have some one inch wedge summer sandals that I love and they are very comfortable to me. Everyone's feet are different and what is comfortable to one person is agony to another. All it takes is a strap that hits a toe in the wrong place to cause discomfort. I absolutely adore your shirts/blouses. The colors are gorgeous. I agree about the beanie hats. They look so cute on others, but not me. I live in Maryland so we can get some cold and snowy weather. I only wear a beanie to shovel the driveway and I am still searching for the perfect winter hat. So enjoying this new channel, Valentina.

I am not a trendy person, mainly because trends usually don’t look good on me. I understand what you’re saying:)

I literally agreed with every single thing you said especially the ballet flats…I just told someone the other day how I refuse to buy round toe flats and or heels because they look childish…also I’m the complete opposite of petite so I think your reasons are valid for you no matter what. I think you just enjoy a very European and timeless look - I love your style

I have the same Saint Laurent bag, I just punched a hole in it to make the strap shorter. You could shorten it yourself or a shoe maker can do it for you.

I agree w you on the cheetah print. I especially don't like the colorful versions of cheetah print. Looks cheap & tacky to me. Love your style. Agree w you on so many of these trends.

I’m happy to hear that Coach isn’t passé lol. I love my little tiny coach over the shoulder bag. I don’t like gaudy bling bling bulky stuff much anyways. Didn’t know you were in ATL. I’m down here also. The main thing is dress YOU. I think there’s plenty enough variety out there for everyone. If we all did the same thing, it would just be way too boring. Ditto on leather coats. They’re cold and not cozy and often heavy and they really don’t do much for actually staying warm.
