Hi Andi I’ve been sewing since I was a small child and fifty years later I’m still sewing! What really makes me also happy is to see so many lovely young people just like you sewing and enjoying it as much as I have! I love your videos and your never too old to learn to sew something new. So honey keep on sewing! And here in Australia well keep watching!🧡🙏

Thank you Andi, I loved this. I’m 61 and have been sewing since I was 8 years old. I come from a family of sewers. You are so very right on most. Be careful with the air in a can. You can send very small fibers into the computer chips of your machine if not careful. I don’t use it on my embroidery machine. I just take it apart and brush out the fibers. I love your videos keep up the good work. You’re a delightful and smart young lady. I have learned a few things from you. Thank you

Great tips. I have the same sewing machine that you have and love it. It is one of many that I have but my favorite. Great tips. My only suggestion is to be careful when using the air duster (canned air). Although you are blowing out some of the lint and fibers, you are also blowing lint and fibers further into the machine where you can't see. Over time it could build and cause problems with your sewing. At that point, you would either need to take the machine apart or take it in for service. I use the lint brush and a small hand held vacuum (the kind used to clean computers) to remove the lint inside my bobbin case area and machine. I do use the canned air on the outside of the machine but never to blow on the inside.

Thanks for sharing your tips! I am almost 70 and sewed a lot as a teenager and young woman but am now wanting to get back into it. So much has changed but the basics are still the same, you need to take good care of your machine and use quality materials if you want to have a good outcome. That along with liking what you are doing and having patience and a joyous attitude will take you far. I need to be reminded of that occasionally, thank you. I very much enjoy your videos you are straight forward and knowledgeable.

I LOVE that as a pro you still don’t use patterns without diagrams. I feel that in my spirit 😂 I 100% also agree with loading all the bobbins to have on hand. I keep 2/3 loaded in white, 1/3 black. Needles. 😂 So relatable! I thought my tension was trashed and machine needed tuneup. Nope. Just needed a new needle. Doh 🙄 lol. I bought a new machine thinking my old one was trash. I guess I can celebrate having a spare machine. I definitely advise taking a break from frustrating projects and coming back to them. We need to remember it takes us muggles doing a complex project 100 times before it looks professional grade. It’s only about 10 for simple projects to look professional. I think all crafters come to find supply collection becomes a secondary hobby. 😂 The reason we fall in love with a craft is being drawn to the supplies.

Love all your tips. I did see others mentioned the can air and you replied. One of the reasons you dont want to use the canned air is because it sends moisture into the machine as well which can permanently damage the machine. I didnt know this until I tried canned air and thought it would be great and then learned the hard way not to use it.

I used to use the air duster in my machines. No more! It pushes dust into your machine, which eventually could cause a bigger problem. I purchased a keyboard vacuum (small and rechargeable) from Amazon and use that and a brush to clean my machines. I just purchased a new machine and I am starting to change my needles more often. The sound the machine makes is instantly better with a new needle. Also, would you adjust the sound of your music, please? Not asking in a negative way. I'm a new subscriber and enjoy your content. Love your motto of being kind to everyone, appreciate your tutorials and wishing you the best of luck in your business Andi. I'm a new garment sewist but think it's important to pass along what one machine technician told me. Sounds like it's ok with your sewing machine but some sewing machines do poorly with canned air and were prohibited to me by the store technician so please be careful in advising that for all machines. Air dusters just push the dust into the body of the sewing machine, if it's computerized the dust can land on the sensors and other components and prevent some features from working.

LOVE your videos and I have happily subscribed! You mentioned patience...yes yes yes. One thing I wish I knew before I started sewing is that focus is SO important. Before I sew, I tell myself I will go slow and do the very best I can. If I haven't the patience for that I will put my project down and try again later. I can't say enough how being calm and collected makes for better sewing! Also, good light is important. I really prefer sewing in the daytime, in the morning when it's quiet and I can properly SEE! I know there are lots of great lighting gadgets out there too~
