I was a singer on the Norwegian Cruise Line many many many many years ago now and I still remember having to train in putting out fires and all the life drills. We had to jump in to the ocean in Hawaii from the tender and form a human chain and swim to a life raft. We were told none of this before boarding the ship, it was a complete shock! Do the crew still have to do all these things? We even had to sit a test on fire drills etc...
@kristinekugler Жыл бұрын
We have lots of trainings and a weekly drill but nothing that crazy! We had to do a lifeboat filling once, but that was the most intense of our drills and it wasn’t even too bad!

I have watched about a dozen, different cruise ship worker, YT sites. Outside of one other (the guy with the coffee). You seem the most real...down to Earth (that I can recall). For whatever that is worth to you. I enjoyed this video...thank you. ☮

Your video reminds me alot of when I was performing at a resort destination up on the hill with hotels, casinos, shopping malls, theme park, and nightclubs. The aspects you mentioned like gossiping, interaction, and seeing the same people everyday are so relatable! These are things I wish I knew for my personal well-being and growth before committing. However, my contract ended and I never decided to go back there. I still wanna send you love and support by commenting on your video as I really appreciate your sharing 💖💖

After getting fully caught up last night, I watched this again -- this was the first of your videos that I saw oh so (less than three weeks) long ago. I love your tip to be a trustworthy human which really is a tip for all humans (and not just those of the cruise ship dwelling variety). I also appreciate the "time to yourself" tip. I personally love being with people . . . but I also love NOT being with people. Cheers, Kristine!

One of my biggest regrets is not taking a job aboard. You’re so right about experiences. I will be 30 next year and I look back at all the things I didn’t do in my 20’s when I was single with no kids and very little responsibilities. I wish I would have just done it and figured it out as I went instead of overthinking every little thing. Best advice is do it now and not worry about the details. Life will never be this simple again 💙

great insight and videos, thank you! what are Wi-Fi plans available to the crew? Is the connection reliable (assuming it's Stalink)?
@kristinekugler Жыл бұрын
We have a couple packages available like 60 mins for 24 hours for $3.99, 300 mins for 30 days for $29.99. So it gets quite expensive when it’s compounded. Guest wifi is extremely reliable but crew’s is not the greatest and very slow. I think the company is beginning to integrate Starlink throughout the fleet, but I think it’s only just started.

Thank you, I loved hearing about 'alone time' from a more introverted perspective! Are there any other places to go on the ship or tips for if you need a little bit more downtime (or say your roommate is more outgoing...)? Quiet corners, or library, or unused cinema spaces?! Maybe a topic for another video!!? :)
@kristinekugler Жыл бұрын
My favorite things to do when I need alone time is to go for a walk on the track with my headphones on and listen to a podcast or lay out on deck 7 when we’re at port, (which is the crew area at the front of the ship). Also there’s a crew cafe where I would sit and read for hours! None of those places are guaranteed that people wouldn’t interrupt you but it definitely was nice to get out of the cabin a little :)

yes, that's correct... the same here... When I signed on for the FIRST TIME on Radiance of the Seas in San Diego in 2008, I knew nothing of what was in-store for me aboard the cruise ship. Back then, the Internet onboard was not as good as it is today probably. we only have email if you want to communicate with family members back home. I have no Facebook, KZbin, Instagram, or Messenger yet. My only gadget was a keypad cellphone. lol. Good thing I was a bit of a reader. kudos to the incinerator guys who were kind enough to provide me reading materials such as books and magazines( that are still in good shape) left onboard by guests that are sent down to the incinerator. That saved me from long sea days during the South America Cruise. Then after my first payday, I got myself a good point-and-shoot camera. The rest was a history of fun and travel.

So I'm starting my first contract this year, just finished and passed the medical, and I'm waiting to get assigned. All I know is it's going to be 6 months. Now I'm not going as a musician, however, I am in the media department and I really want to bring my guitar with me because I do not want to go 6 months without practice and it is a hobby. Is it possible for non-musicians or show people to bring a guitar on board if you know? Love your vids btw keep it up.

Stumbled on this channel. This is a great video. As someone 2 or 3 times older than you and successful, i can confidently say you are a very smart and well rounded person. 🤭 You say youve done an 11 month tour or contract. Are you or did you do it again? Without getting in trouble behind the scenes videos of areas like crew mess, laundy, engine room, housekeeping, kitchens etc would be excellent.
