I hate when people downplay a shiny pokemon cause you can get one for free. Like, it's not the colors that make them special, its the novelty of being lucky enough to encounter one and/or the amount of time you spent hunting it. That's why I always label my shinies as "Full-odds" "Charm" "Catch chain" Etc. Cause the rarity and effort matter. I wound up giving my shiny ponyta to an NPC cause a shiny just handed to me wasn't worth anything more than a normal ponyta. TL;DR: Your full odds shiny is far cooler and way more impressive than anyone dismissing it cause you could have just caught a guaranteed one.

The thing about some gen 2 Pokémon being only in kanto is that back then the idea wasn’t to have different Pokémon for each region, it was that the new Pokémon were simply newly discovered species.

From a world building perspective, that's great but from a game design perspective it sucks. You don't get to use a fair few of the new Pokemon until you've already finished the main adventure where, if you do decide to pick one up and add it to your team, you've gotta do an unbearable amount of grinding to get them up to speed. Since, for some reason, they decided the levels of wild Pokemon should match the levels of those areas in RBY.

The main adventure is collecting Pokémon and becoming the strongest in the region (sort of forced upon you but you can do what you want for the better part). Game Freak did not make the games with an idea of Post-Game in mind, that came later with things like the battle tower, frontier, etc.

They set that up as your goal through beating the gyms just like RBY, and the credits roll after you beat Lance.

And in ORAS, you can find one pretty quickly with the DexNav simply by repeatedly chasing away the wrong mon (identifiable via cry) until a Ralts appears.

When i choose a starter Pokemon, it's ALWAYS based on what animal they are and i just roll with it! Like Foxes and Cats are my two favorite animals, so if either one of those are an option, I'm Going to choose that starter no matter what it evolves into!😊❤ Although Gen 7 was the ONLY exception because i preferred Primarina over Incineroar!

One thing I wish I knew was that there's a quiz in Blaine's gym and you can answer it instead of battling the trainers. When I first played FRLG I thought the only way to get to Blaine was fighting the trainers... Also one thing I wish they did was adding something in the pokedex of some species with especific evolution methods hinting at how you evolve them, at least in the game they originated from, as they did with Stantler in Legends Arceus.

As someone who’s started getting into the tcg as a collector and hopeful player, yeah, knowing how much it would cost would be nice. As well as the rule change. I had a Charizard centered deck and a few cards (ex. the Vivid Voltage Charizard, Leon’s Support Card, and Sonia) weren’t viable for standard tournaments anymore 😅

@@joshuastreet8664 Same ^^; I'm gradually adjusting my current decks, but I don't entirely wanna for some of them 😭 Thankfully my Charizard Deck is mostly up to date (with F being the only SwSh cards in it, in the event F is still viable next rotation) and my Steel/Fighting and Fighting/Ground only really needing SV copies of certain Pokemon (mainly Pawinard/Bisharp, Rookidee/Corvisquire/Corviknight, and Riolu/Lucario) and my Steel/Psychic needing Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir/Gallade first and forremost.

Whether you like them or not is irrelevant, it’s why you like them or not. As long as you’re looking at them from a perspective of what they provide to you that’s fine. I personally don’t care for the main series at this point because what good SV did does not outweigh its shortcomings for me. They seem to force more and more of the easy mode mechanics on you when they were basically all toggleable in the earlier games. They had affection as optional in gens 6 and 7 which was great as you could intentionally ignore them and the exp share. Now all of that is locked on. But I’m happy playing gens 3-5 and their rom hacks so I don’t really care at this stage.

The PTCG is much much cheaper to get into than a lot of other TCGs like Magic and Yugioh. One thing I really like about pokemon tcg is that there aren't ever any exceptionally rare cards that are ONLY available in that rarity. The super expensive cards are always rare alternate arts versions of cards you can get in normal rarity for much cheaper. It's still costly to build a totally meta deck, but where the other TCGs might run you into the thousands, pokemon would more be in 50-200 range, usually close to like 80 bucks I think unless you need like 10 pricy EX cards in your deck or something. In Yugioh or magic some card that's only available as an ultra rare could be like several hundred dollars each and you need 3 of them alongside numerous other cards in the 10-100 dollar range to get a full meta deck. Compared to that pokemon is an order of magnitude bettter...

1 thing I wish I knew before playing the crown tundra dlc was that the legendary you went up against could be shiny in dynamax adventures... I caught suicune and then shortly learned of that later: ( I wish I could shiny hunt suicune other than soft resetting for one. Also I try avoid spoilers (except for watching the trailers) and one way or another, I'll find a video recommended to me with story spoilers in the thumbnail. As for starters, I always try to skip them but then I got a video recommended to me from an infamous poketuber that I don't even watch!!!!

A few 'I wish I knew' moments: - I wish I knew that you don't need to use the one master ball to catch legendaries. I caught a Zapdos in Red/Blue and I assumed that you could only get one legendary per save file w/o trading. - I wish I knew about version exclusives. I tried to find and catch an Oddish in Blue version. - I wish I knew about pokémon with evolutions added in later generations. Imagine thinking that Magmortar was a gen 1 pokémon. I wish that I knew earlier that if you want to complete your Pokédex for a certain pair of games without someone to consistently trade with, you’d need both versions. Nowadays I pretty much get both versions (though the version I prefer is what I’ll buy physically, and the other one I just download), and was finally able to accomplish this in Sword. But I’ve only bought one version before Pokémon debuted on the Switch, so I have to do this whole process of finding acceptable deals on the GBA/DS games online AND making sure they’re authentic copies. Guess that’s just how big of a dork I am over this series...!😅

About the shiny failing in Let’s go, the other day I was replying Let’s go Eevee, and I was walking down route 5 on my way to the daycare, when I jumped down a ledge, and a shiny pidgey spawned right above it. Because I didn’t have any flying ride Pokémon yet, I circled all the way around to get above the ledge, and it despawned.

The funny thing is with the trade Evos is when I played emerald I caught a mad Abra made it a Kadabra but little did I know that this kadabra was secretly sonic the hedgehog himself. This Kadabra was by far one of my fastest Pokémon and even out sped Pokémon upwards of 7 levels above him. I still don’t know why he was so fast lol.

I definitely agree with the first one. When I first played through Pokemon Violet I picked Quaxly because he had a lot of sass to him, but when he eventually evolved into Quaquaval I wished I had picked Fuecoco instead. I hate when starters go bipedal

Back in 2011 when i was 10 years old i remember playing ruby , roaming around a patch of grass with a dark type team. I never knew you could anyone apart from the weather trio, I was confused why latios was running away and when I saw it on the map in a different location, to make things worse the battery was red. so O plug the charger and continue following it and of course I'm annoyed it keeps fleeing so i get the bright idea to teach mean look(i hated non damage moves when i was small) finally i encounter the blue plane bufoon but my gameboy goes off. Turns out i forgot to turn on the extension and since I forgot to save i lost all the progress😢
